   Am I crazy for wanting to buy 2-3 machines to start a custom product business? - I’ve been thinking pretty seriously about taking on custom orders as a side business, and I’m at the point where I’m trying to figure out what equipment to start with. Right now I’m thinking of getting a 3D printer (Bambu Lab) + an xtool o1. A friend of mine has the O1 and keeps telling me it’s worth it, especially for the variety of stuff you can print on. And then the 3D printer would cover a completely different side of things — custom parts, models, little functional products, etc. The slightly unhinged part is that I’m also considering adding a laser engraver In my head, 3D printer + O1 + laser would cover a ridiculous amount of custom work and give me a lot of room to experiment with different products. But that’s also a pretty serious amount of money to spend before I even know what people will actually buy. Would you start with two and add the laser later? Or does it make sense to build out the whole setup from the beginning if I’m serious about doing custom work? Would love to hear from anyone who actually runs a small customization/maker business.
