Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

**In short: the numbers are roughly right, the image itself is very likely staged, and the headline is misleading.** **The prices** * **1971:** $3.50 really was adult admission when the park opened on October 1, 1971. But that only got you through the gate. Rides cost extra via ticket books: admission plus 7 attractions was $4.75, plus 11 attractions $5.75. * **2026:** $189 for mid-April is plausible. One-day Magic Kingdom tickets in 2026 range from $139 to $209 depending on the date, and from mid-March through the end of April they sit at about $184 to $189. Today all rides are included. touringplansdisneyfoodblog **Why "inflation" doesn't fit** The US Consumer Price Index has risen by a factor of about 8 since October 1971 (roughly 41 → roughly 330, calculated from memory). * $3.50 × 8 ≈ **$28** in today's purchasing power * Actual price: $189, so a nominal factor of **54** * That is about 7.6% p.a. versus about 3.9% p.a. inflation * In real terms, admission has become about **6.7 times** more expensive The fairer comparison is with the 11-attraction book: $5.75 × 8 ≈ $46 today, versus $189, so about **4 times** as expensive in real terms. Most of the increase is Disney's pricing policy, not inflation.

Interestingly, back in 1971 an ounce of gold was around $40 (although it rose very quickly afterwards). If you apply the same proportion today, the tickets should be roughly around $350. Not so bad after all! /s

  3. Comment

Yeah, but the $3.50 ticket in 1971 just got you into the park. You had to buy tickets to ride the rides once you were inside.

  4. Comment

Lol. Disney World always had rides. It was the main reason they made the park. Edit: Also, when the park opened in 1971 the $3.50 ticket only got you in the park. You had to buy a separate tickets to ride the rides.

no one knew wtf Walmart was in 1971
