Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

BTC is not money, as it’s lacking a power to enforce it. To make actual money, there has to be a state that forces its validity upon the society it has command over. It’s pretty obvious: there’s plenty of ppl who, by not owning money, are seperated from wealth and it’s in their interest to go against what power money gives to its owners (ie. buying/owning goods, labour, land). Thinking you can just make some sort of fantasy currency that can work as real money is delusional for that reason.

In your definition, nothing is a store of value. Gold moves 20-50% routinely. So does land and real estate. So do equities and bonds. So if Bitcoin isn't a store of value, what is in your eyes? If the answer is nothing, then the next question is what should someone do with their money? The only answers are hold fiat and accept slow erosion, or hold something else and accept volatility. Your argument doesn't make any sense at all. It also assumes a high time preference. A store of value isn't measured in weeks or months, maybe not even a few years. It's generally measured across longer timeframes, exactly because of the speculative nature that comes with volatility. There's no free ride.

What? Land/ RE? Bitcoin? Businesses? Stocks?

    Or gold, or land...

This is a good point but it’s breaking my brain trying to think it through. The majority of that 900T is Real estate, Land, and the bond market. The bond market being literal Debt. And a significant percentage of real estate being debt. Aka not real money just a claim against something to be paid back with interest. And then we have stocks, which people only put fiat into because their currency is being debased. Wouldn’t BTC directly attack each and every one of those asset classes by nature? My brain literally can’t connect the dots but your comment has me thinking. All of those stores of value, wealth preservation/accumulation and FIAT games only exist because people are running away from holding the dollar. Under a BTC standard you would have to think the ratio of currency to asset global wealth changes drastically. And it feels like the only way that doesn’t happen is if BTC only becomes a store of value instead of an actual currency. If it stays a store of value people will paper over it like gold. If it becomes a global currency where people earn and spend in Bitcoin doesn’t it have to by nature become the largest percentage of global wealth by far? Maybe I need to go back to sleep lol
