   If speed is the main goal, a pod machine will be faster and easier than an espresso setup. A good espresso machine can make better coffee, but there’s a learning curve. If you really want espresso drinks like lattes/cappuccinos/americanos, then an espresso machine makes more sense here. Since you already enjoy French press, you might actually like a good drip machine or AeroPress as a faster weekday option since you will keep more of the flavor you enjoy without adding the workflow of espresso. If convenience is key, stay simple and go pods. My wife and I have a single serve ninja machine for convenience if we don't have time to do our usual coffee routine in the morning. It allows pods and grounds, not a bad deal for it either. Got it for like $90 on tiktok shop months back.

   If they're looking specifically for French press, I'd be hesitant to recommend Aeropress. Aeropress tastes somewhere between French press and pour over, it offers more clarity but lacks body by comparison.

   I switched to stainless steel after breaking a half-dozen glass ones. However, I bought a single serve Aeropress about 2 years ago which has become my favorite method. An Aeropress essentially functions like a French press but you can also use it for pour over or a blend of pour over and French press.

   I just went through the same process as I have owned the basic bodum french press since 1980, on my second one for the past 20 years. I just ordered this one and the coffee is AMAZING, much more like an aeropress in taste than a gritty traditional french press. ESPRO P5 French Press Coffee Maker, 32oz. I love this french press and the coffee it brews is really good with excellent clarity and complexity in the cup. I can use paper filters between the two micro-mesh baskets to which is more like the AeroPress. My grind size is finer than traditional French press, more like my aeropress. I steep for 2 to 3 minutes instead of the traditional 4 minutes for a brighter cup. And I stir a couple of times at the start to keep the extraction bright, clean and sweeter. And it brews more than the Aeropress XL. I was deciding between them and went with the P5. And I'm very happy with that decision.

   You might consider a hario switch or aeropress. Both can do immersion, like French press, and have a paper filter.
