   I have a glass and a stainless steel one, both small (350 mL) since I only make one cup at a time, and both double walled. I removed the plunger entirely. I use just the carafe and the lid, and pour through a dripper with paper filter. This greatly simplifies the entire process and gives me a smooth, clean cup of coffee. I am happy with both. The glass one requires more careful care, but is nicer looking and gives me a slightly better result. The stainless steel one also gives great results and is good for those mornings when I don't want to make as much effort being careful with handling. Lastly not using the plunger reduces wear on the glass one. Also eliminates any concern with how well the plunger performs. The glass one cost me $12 and the stainless steel one $27, both bought in 2026.

   A french press is a fairly simple piece of equipment. The main think you want is something that won't fall apart. I recommend against glass for that reason. Something like this will be fine.

   I have the same. Works fine for me too. I do like glass as I can see what the grounds are doing. As ince saturated they fall to the bottom.

   The Bodum glass ones are cheap. They break easily and they don't keep the coffee hot. I went through several; it's a matter of time before they have to be replaced. The YETI French Press is metal and insulated. It's durable, non staining, and it keeps the coffee hot. My daughter gave me one for Christmas. I think they're $100. So about the same cost as the five or so Bodums I went through, but much greater satisfaction.

   I’m cheap. I have a glass Bodum French press, probably from Target or TJ Max. I’ve been using it for at least 7-8 years now. If you’re more clumsier than I am, or have young kids, invest in the stainless steel one. It’s only a bit more, probably will last a lifetime (why no one has posted about this in 5+ years), and might keep your coffee warm longer in case you get distracted or need to poop first. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Brand doesn’t matter so long as it’s reliable, and that will depend on your own usage.
