Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Most of the stuff you need to learn about roasting coffee, you can find on Youtube. You can start at home with some green beans and a pan over your stove. After that, you can move to a smaller manual drum roaster or a cheapy electric one from Temu. Most roasters I know will hire people with no roasting experience for manual labor help and then train them on the job. Your main problem is that roasting jobs are fairly highly coveted so there will be little turnover in a small town.

How do I get a job at local coffee roaster in smaller city? In the last year, they've been hiring two times or so, and I've applied. I had a few years experimenting with coffee roasting at home, and generally just lifetime of geeking out about coffee knowledge. I see that SCAA has classes, but attending isn't feasable financially or geographically. How can I make a stronger resume with no formal qualifications?

Life is short and what one person may view as wasteful may be the brightest part of another person’s day. Coffee is one of my favorite things — when I want a coffee, I get a coffee. A $5 coffee isn’t going to make you go broke and it will not be the reason you can’t own a home, as much as boomers would like us to believe, and imo it is a small price to pay for the happiness the ritual of going to the coffee shop brings me. I make my cuts in other places (fewer drinks on a night out, putting unnecessary snacks back at the supermarket). Maybe you can go 1/2 as often as you’re currently going — you still get to save money without getting rid off it completely. I’d also try finding a coffee bean blend that you really like. There are some days that I prefer what I have at home over what I could get at a coffee shop.

Have you considered making your coffee at home and still going out to drink it?

I do the walk thing. Make it at home, put it in a travel mug you actually like, then go round the block with it. Sounds daft but the mug and being outside does most of the work for me.
