   Hello !! I am looking for a good coffee mug. I have tried Fellow and Miir and both have disappointed my needs esp hygiene… anyone got suggestions? Problems I encountered : 1. Miir : properly cleaning the “click” lid is tedious and the mechanism it not very durable. After a bit of use, I sometimes had to press it multiple times to close/open. Biggest problem was the lid cleaning tho. It is plastic which I don’t love and holds smell. 2. Fellow : smell. I am someone who cleans my things very well so this is not normal. It keeps the smell of my dish soap even after rinsing intensively and soaking in baking soda twice a week ! Gives a soapy taste :/ I noticed the ceramic interior is assembled (not one continuous piece) so that could contribute…. These are expensive products, making them cheap at such a price is a robbery. They look sleek and nice but quality doesn’t follow… Anyone has a recommendation of something non porous, truly durable and that won’t hold smell without paying a fortune?

   An Ethiopian by Omnus Coffee Roasters in Sejong City, Korea. The label says “Sidamo Bensa, Bombe, Wine Natural”. Picked it up during a recent trip to see family. I’ve been having *excellent* cups all week. Mostly brewed at about 1:16 into a 12oz thermos to take to the office. First one I took, I opened the lid, and immediately called over a fellow coffee nerd and had her take a whiff. “That smells *so* sweet,” she said. I don’t know if they ship. I think they have a blog on Naver, and they’re on IG and FB. It might be only the one corner shop, too. Pretty sure I happened to meet the owner when I visited. He told me that he bought his shop’s two-group espresso machine used and rehabbed it himself.

   What worked for me was making the ritual the point, not the cafe. I take a short walk with iced coffee in an insulated tumbler with a lid and straw and sit outside for ten minutes. The glass tumbler idea is good, a cup that feels like a to go cup helps more than I expected. You could keep the cafe as a weekly treat.

   I bought the glass keep cup but I never reach for it. The lid is a little tricky and just annoys me. But I got some unicorn plastic cups from target(pillowfort brand) and took out the baby sippy straw and just put a reusable plastic straw in it and it’s the best!! I made some simple syrup at home and put it in some $1 squeezie bottles from the kitchen supply store. Now in the afternoon before I go out, I make my coffee in my to go cup and take it around with me. To my sisters house, grocery, dr, wherever I’m going. It’s great! I completely stopped getting matcha out because i like the one I make much better. And I still get coffee sometimes, but I almost always regret it because it’s too milky, too sweet, too something. Building the habit! The right cup makes all the difference. I think I would have liked the plastic keep cup cold better.
