Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

If they're looking specifically for French press, I'd be hesitant to recommend Aeropress. Aeropress tastes somewhere between French press and pour over, it offers more clarity but lacks body by comparison.

I switched to stainless steel after breaking a half-dozen glass ones. However, I bought a single serve Aeropress about 2 years ago which has become my favorite method. An Aeropress essentially functions like a French press but you can also use it for pour over or a blend of pour over and French press.

Im late, but ill chime in since i french press most days. Grind the coffee as course as you dare. Your brew window is 4-6 minutes. Can go as high as 10 minutes for some beans. Press very slowly or dont press at all and just pour through the filter. Don't let the coffee sit in the press, pour it into a carafe. I like a 1:17 ratio. Grind size is the biggest component. Water should be 190-200 degree if you can measure temp. If not make sure the water is not still boiling when you pour. Honestly, I can't get the grind course enough on my cheap amazon flat burr grinder. I have a hario hand grinder set almost as course as it can go that i use for french press. I also sift the grounds in a flour sifter to remove fines. Sifting is not necessary, but it does noticeably improve the taste. Finally, some beans are more forgiving for pourover, some are more forgiving for french press. You'll need to experiment.

I alternate between my aeropress and pour over drippers (I have a switch and a Chemex funnex) I’m pretty happy and don’t need to explore much more. I have a Moka I use now and then too. Maybe I’ll get a smaller one, could also maybe get a bigger Chemex one day if I ever have a need to brew bigger batches but otherwise pretty content. The idea of a Flair or La Pavoni does intrigue me and if I ever have the money and time to spare, I’d get one out of curiosity. Damn it, I guess the answer to your question is no lol.

My comments pertain to hand grinders because that’s all I’ve ever used. I went from a $50 Timemore C2 to a $250 1ZPresso KMax. Definitely noticed more consistency across multiple brews. Also the convenience is nice— the clicks are labeled more clearly and easier to keep track of. The magnetic catch cup is nice. Overall the build quality is nice and feels better in the hand. It’s a little easier on the wrists because of the ergonomics and, I’m guessing, because of the sharper burrs. As far as flavor improvements, it’s a small-to-modest improvement for pourover (V60, Kalita) and and very subtle improvement for immersion (clever dripper, aeropress, etc). The range of capabilities is nice— the KMax can grind fine enough for espresso, which the C2 could not. But there are cheap grinders that can grind for espresso, although the larger jump in grind size between clicks probably makes it harder to dial in for espresso. Overall I’d say the entry level stuff (Timemore C2 or C3, KinGrinder P2) are perfectly good for anyone who’s happy with a nice daily cup of immersion brewed coffee. If you’re chasing small improvements (like as a hobby) and don’t mind shelling out an extra $200, then upgrading is probably worth it. But if I’m talking to a beginner who’s just like “hey I wanna drink better coffee than the same KCups or drip machine + pre-ground coffee I’ve been drinking for years” I always tell them just to get a kettle, an Aeropress, and an entry level hand grinder. Buy some decent beans and grind them fresh, a you’ll brew an amazing cup of coffee with a setup that’s around $100 and barely any learning curve whatsoever.
