Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Patio Error? - We recently got a patio installed in our backyard. They had to take the bottom two layers of siding off the bottom because they also removed the previous deck. After the poured it and everything we checked it out and noticed some wood rotting along the side of the house and figured we should replace it. Problem is, it looks like the poured the steps right up next to the house and said rotting wood. Now the whole piece of wood isn’t rotted, just one small section. We can’t replace that entire piece of wood because of the steps. It doesn’t look like there is a moisture barrier of any sorts there, so my biggest concerns are: A. Not being able to replace the piece of already rotted wood B. The concrete causing additional moisture problems being right up against wood. I haven’t reached out to the contractor because I wanted to get some second hand opinions so I didn’t reach out and ask stupid questions. I only have 1 year of home ownership under my belt and I’m unfamiliar with all of this. Patio Pictures

Surface water accumulation - I live in Ontario. Last weekend we had a heavy rain for a longer than normal duration. I contacted the town, they sent an engineer to discuss it and he explained that this storm inundated the drain system of the town and properties all over town had surface flooding. In my backyard, the water accumulated on the back of my house, reaching within 1” of the basement window sills. I then contacted a local plumbing company, just to ensure that my weeping tile was clear. The plumber had seen issues like this before and suggested that the soil has poor drainage due to clay. That’s definitely true. He gave me a quote of $15K to install 3 window wells with drains that connect to the weeping tile. Is this quote reasonable?

The whole point of wfh is to, well, wfh. So renting a working space, you might as well just get a different job. As for a home office, unless you plan on making a proper small structure with a (permitted) foundation, insurance, proper electric, air conditioning, insulation and networking, don't bother. And it will be more prone to environmental noise bleed unless you treat the inside, and you'll have to deal with weather, so you gotta run through the rain to go to work and run through the rain for bathroom breaks. You might be better off actually putting an addition onto your home for an attached office. It'll be more expensive, but it'll straight up add value to your home, where a backyard freestanding office really doesn't

SHED IN MY BACKYARD - When we signed our closing paperwork, we told the seller that if that knocked off the clean out of the shed we'd be open to signing for closing. That deal was made long before we received the keys and were able to see what we were getting into. Regardless they sold, covered all closing cost and we got 500.00 extra to move in... Now has come the time for clearing out the shed, and my thought process is to cut an exterior wall down and haul off as much as possible until it exist as nothing more that a carport. What would you do/how would you go about doing this clean out?

Cedar Siding and Paver Clearance - We are in the midst of redoing the backyard, added an in ground pool and paver patio. We live close to the water and knew the water table was high, unfortunately we hit water sooner than we thought and had to raise the pool wall about 3 or 4 inches then originally planned. In return that makes the paver patio 3 or 4 inches higher. Because of this the cedar siding now sits even or very slightly above the pavers. Not ideal. There is already a portion of the shingles next to the door cut an inch higher. Should I just chalk line that height out and cut all of them to give an inch clearance? I’d be wary of going any higher. Before hand there was a 3 inch clearance now if I cut it out it would be a 1 inch clearance. Obviously should have more clearance but 1 inch is better than nothing.
