   Pseudo-steam shower concerns - Hello. DIY'ing (most of) my bathroom remodel. I'm not installing a steam unit. But I am having the shower be completely enclosed with the glass going all the way to the ceiling. The walls and floor will be cultured marble (tyvarian). The ceiling is just green mold & mildew resistant drywall and the ventilation fan is a standard 50 cfm located in the shower ceiling. 1. How much/if any waterproofing should I apply to the ceiling? The cultured marble on the walls(not yet installed) just has greenboard behind it per the contractor's instruction. There is no steam unit in the shower, just the option to not turn off the fan to keep the steam produced by the shower head trapped in the shower. 2. When ventilation is desired, should I rely on gaps in the shower door for air ingress? Or have the glass manufacturer cut a porthole that can be open/closed to allow air ingress? Thanks for any and all advice you can provide!

   It's a 3 bed 1 bath house with a living room and kitchen, so really like 6 rooms total. I figured I could get away with one in the living room to cool the living room, kitchen, and bathroom thats off the kitchen, and another in the main hallway between the 3 rooms. Might have enough airflow, might not, I'm not really sure how I'd figure it out either way

   I had this exact thing happen once and finally figured out that there were actually two GFCI in a row (that is GFCI 1 in the garage was feeding GFCI 2 in the bathroom). My guess is that at some point the house was sold, and the home inspector marked the lack of GFCIs in the bathroom as a defect, so the sellers (or buyers) blindly installed one, not understanding that it was already protected by another GFCI device elsewhere in the house. Check around for another one? Another time, I had a GFCI that would not reset - and turned out that it was protecting a regular outlet on the outside of my house, that had gotten water in it from the neighbor pressure washing their fence (all over my house, but that's a story for another time). After I dried it out, I was able to reset the GFCI and all was well.

   Oh yes... I'm over most contractors. HVAC, Plumbers, Painters are all on my shit list. Hvac: I had a short cycle, I called for service, the tech only offered a new furnace sale. Said my unit was on its way out. Wanted $15k. That motivated me to DIY a repair. I cleaned the flame sensor with a wire brush and that fixed it. 15 minutes and solved. Working fine for the past 2 years. I now service my unit. Plumber: new addition bathroom, wanted $6k for 20 feet of pex to a rough in valve. $10k for sewer rough in. I did it for under $1.5k in material and a weekend crawling. 3 years later, all works, no leaks, poop rolls downhill. Painter: $25k for a 40'x70' single story rambler. Did it over a month on weekends for the front and sides, waited to build the shed to paint the back. On track for 3 weekends. Just need to se if Miller is still good. That brings me to today.

   EPOXY ALL OVER APARTMENT - Location: Chandler AZ Background: On June 22nd 2026 I submitted a maintenance request because the epoxy coating in our bathroom was completely cracked, cockroaches were coming through, and water was leaking onto the tenants below. After 10 days with no answer, it magically said my request was filled. So on July 2nd, 2026 I submitted another maintenance request. I live in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom condo, so my fiance and I were forced to use the other bathroom only. After a long wait, and no results, I had to submit another request, on Septmenber 4th, because at this point BOTH showers were completely cracked, and water was getting under the epoxy when we showered, causing mildew smells. Now: Last week my complex reached out and said they were going to have the work done, and told me Monday, September 28, 2026 sometime between 9am-5pm that the technician would come out and perform the work, and that we could return to the unit after 8 hours. At 11am, the technician was still not there and I was beginning to get worried that I wouldn't be able to sleep there, so I went to the office during it's business hours and the front office door was closed, and nobody would pick up the phone when I called. I walked back, saw a maintenance guy and asked him if the office was open, he replied, "Yeah I was just in there 2 minutes ago". I walked back to the locked door, sat outside for 5 minutes, and then started knocking loudly until someone came, so I could figure out when the technician was going to get here. At 11am the technician showed up, and awesome guy and really took care of his work. There was a lot of problems with our bathrooms and just the prep work alone took him until 5p.m. He had sprayed a couple tiles to test and the smell was mild but already in the apartment. This guy was being extremely careful prepping, and it seemed there was a lot more work than he was led to believe from the apartment complex. My complex told me they can just send him back out tomorrow morning so we could stay there for the night, but I had already planned for it to be done today and needed to work from home the next day (today). I told them to just go ahead and get it done. At midnight, we tried to go back in to go to bed, and woke up shortly after with severe headaches, terrible throat pain, stuffed noses, and our eyes were burning, so I had to spend the money last minute to get a hotel. I texted the contractor this morning because I had gotten his phone number for personal reasons and asked him what the "curing time" of the epoxy was and he told me explicitly 24 hours. Coming home from the hotel today, it still stinks, and theres white particles everywhere. Our brand new bedding has paint stains, our couch, and even the inside of my gaming computer has paint in it. I'm wondering is there anything I can do? What are they liable for, and can I really do anything? Any help is really appreciated. I'm writing this post in my apartment now with one of the WORST headaches I've ever had. I feel really terrible because I don't want this to come back on the guy that was here, he was really great and really took his time to prepare, but as the day was going on was being rushed by the apartment complex. Several times he was prepping and I would go in, there was a maitenence person complaining about how long it was taking, and that rush is what got my thigns covered in this epoxy. The guy was doing a great job, and everyone knows paint/epoxy is all about the prep! I even had the guy do work for me personally after he finished my apartment. Attached are pictures of paint in my PC, my bedding, and all across everything on my desk, as you can see when I move my mouse from where it sat whilst being sprayed. The epoxy mix used was GlasTech from Hawk Research Labs, and I've also attached pictures of what my place looked like before when I reported it 3 months ago. Please let me know if theres anything I can do.
