   Pseudo-steam shower concerns - Hello. DIY'ing (most of) my bathroom remodel. I'm not installing a steam unit. But I am having the shower be completely enclosed with the glass going all the way to the ceiling. The walls and floor will be cultured marble (tyvarian). The ceiling is just green mold & mildew resistant drywall and the ventilation fan is a standard 50 cfm located in the shower ceiling. 1. How much/if any waterproofing should I apply to the ceiling? The cultured marble on the walls(not yet installed) just has greenboard behind it per the contractor's instruction. There is no steam unit in the shower, just the option to not turn off the fan to keep the steam produced by the shower head trapped in the shower. 2. When ventilation is desired, should I rely on gaps in the shower door for air ingress? Or have the glass manufacturer cut a porthole that can be open/closed to allow air ingress? Thanks for any and all advice you can provide!

   I live in Atlanta. I paid $830 earlier this year to have 4 light fixtures installed, 1 was a ceiling fan. 2 were on 20' ceilings, 1 of those being the fan.

   Richmond, VA. I think I paid $200 per fan with wiring already in place.

   That is a good price. But you mentioned there were no fans in those spots before. Does the $700 include adding the proper mounts to secure the fan? If there were no fans before, that would not exist and you want to make sure that is included.

   I’d trust the HVAC guy more on the airflow side but I’d still want someone to explain why the ridge vents aren’t enough before putting the fans back in.
