   Just my two cents, but mortar alone is not enough. It will fill the gaps, but it should not be the only thing holding the wood frame in place. I would bolt the frame to sound stones with epoxy-set threaded rod, washers, and nuts. That creates less outward pressure than expansion anchors. Avoid anchoring into loose mortar joints or near the edge of a stone. Drill carefully and use an anchoring epoxy rated for masonry. Also add a waterproof sill pan that slopes outside before installing the window. Mortar does not replace proper flashing and drainage.

   Grab a box of those white screw-in anchors. There are 30, 50, 75 and 100lb versions. Use 6 of those in solid areas of drywall (not in your swiss cheese, but this'll cover it up) and attach the mount using the supplied screws (with washers). Honestly, two of the higher lb rating would be adequate for today's thin tv's, but 6 of the anchors will just make you smile and sleep like a baby.

   I mean it's not: I'm not a plumber but I can't even think what would be so wrong that installing a different machine would make something like this happen? You replaced a washer with another washer, right? Not some kind of new install or whatever?

   I haven’t once closed the door on the washer and have wiped down after every use. Gradually the smell comes back anyways and I can’t figure out why.
