   Oof that chunk took a whole vacation. If that beam underneath is wood and it's been exposed to moisture for a while you might be looking at rot which is a whole different can of worms. If it's still solid you could patch it with some bonding agent and parging mix but getting it to blend nicely is a pain. Might be worth having someone take a look if the cracking is happening elsewhere too.

   Check to make sure your soffits are opened up. Roofers will still sell you ridge vents and not look to see if you have soffit vents. Also, even if your soffit vents are VENTED, you need to make sure they are really vented. A lot of times during remodels or siding they will just put the soffit vent right over the old wood and not put in any holes. I had to do this around my whole house, even though my soffit was vented, the wood underneath actually was not.

   Dont do this with wood, especially at that height. If block isnt an option, you might look at some cast in place concrete options (the crew can use a pump truck to get the concrete up steep slopes and tight spaces). The ground moves in places with soils like San Francisco, a wood wall will have a 5-15 year lifespan.

   Looking for a nail gun recommendation - Not looking for brand recommendations, already settled on Milwaukee due to battery compatibility. We're going to be installing a lot of wood trim (1x4 - 1x8 in various lengths up to 12 feet) for exterior ceilings and soffits. Also may need it to install some Hardie board siding and small panels (not the full 4x8 sheets, but maybe 2x4 or 2x8) as some skirting. So the wood is horizontal and the Hardie would be vertical. Pacific coastal environment. Question is: would we be fine with a 15 guage finish nailer, or are we better off with a framing nailer using shorter .113 nails? Only want to purchase 1 gun that's best suited for all or most of these tasks, though I do realize there are different guns for a reason. Thanks in advance

   Moving that amount of blocks back there skyrocketed the price. That was our original plan, but we decided to switch to wood to keep costs down
