Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Captivate is essentially dead to most ID teams. Articulate Storyline and Rise will still be used. Within the next year or 2, I assume most jobs will expect the ability to use LLMs to generate eLearning content. I know our team is using it for simulations and virtual job aids now. Camtasia should also be on your radar. Most orgs love video learning, and it’s cheaper than Premiere, easier to use, and allows for screen recording.

After only one quarter of losses, it’s unlikely cuts will come to your entire team all at once. If cuts happen, they’re more likely to come in waves with the newest team members or least qualified cut first. During this time, prioritize being visible. Be in the office as often as possible. Don’t be late. Don’t take a lot of time off. Submit your timesheet on time. Don’t gossip. Make the rounds through the office to the decision makers’ offices; just pop your head in and say hi. Be sure to smile, be pleasant, make them laugh if you can, and dress professionally. You want to make it difficult for them to decide to lay you off. You already know that the for-profit 3-4 day certs that organizations like ATD offer are not anywhere near the equivalent value of a degree in the same field. Work experience is valuable, but there are lots of people who can use tools like Camtasia and Articulate to create poor quality learning products. Just because you’re generating output doesn’t mean it’s high quality or gets results. Without the learning theory to guide and underpin the design choices, it’s easy to get it wrong, or make choices based on aesthetics alone. That doesn’t mean your work necessarily has those pitfalls, but in a competitive job market, an employer will usually choose the candidate with a degree over one without, as a way of mitigating those risks. However, that doesn’t mean you’re screwed. You already got yourself a job in this field without a degree. If you’re laid off, you can do it again. Start looking for opportunities as an “insurance plan” against the possibility of lay off. Look for job postings that accept work experience in lieu of a degree. Collect all the stats from the LMS on the impact of your work: number of sessions you’ve facilitated, increase in work productivity or efficiency of your learners in their jobs, etc. and add those to your resume. Update your LinkedIn profile. Have a portfolio of your work ready to showcase during interviews. Reinforce your professional network; reach out to people you haven’t connected with in a while and follow companies you might be interested in working for. Good luck to you.

Fellas and ladies… am I screwed? - I’ve been in a training role for 3, almost 4 years now. I was the only one on the team my first year and did so much including hosting, facilitating, and creating ILTs/vILTs. I was hired on as a “training expert”, with zero experience, degrees, or certifications. I’ve bootstrapped my way through so much of this field. I’ve got a slew of certifications from multiple accredited providers (ATD/AIHR/DDI/BC). I’ve built e-learnings using Camtasia (first two years) and Rise (past 2 years). Hell, my first 30 days it was my job to talk to an LMS provider and pick one for our 3000 employees. I integrated them with our HRIS, handle support tickets, and of course do courses, analytics, etc. I do so freaking much, but other than certs, I don’t have a degree with seems to be required by most employers. My first year, we hired an ID (yay!), except they only work on one-pager materials. I have no idea why the Director limits him to this role, but it is what it is I guess. My second year, we hired two “training specialists”, who now assist me in hosting and creating e-learnings and ILTs. My 3rd year we hired another person, she’s awesome “learning PM”. She brings 20 years of experience and has her hands in everything.. as she should. Our department is now 6 people, all oversaw by the Director of L&D. I thought everything was going good until 3 weeks ago when she said we needed to make a document that justifies our position. It’s been no secret that the company, now 7000 employees, hasn’t been doing good. 3 months of losses and I’m thinking that we might get laid off. I’ve been applying to jobs ever since with no luck. Am I barking up the wrong tree? It seems degrees are required, which I have none. Any support out there would be greatly appreciated.. I’m a Swiss Army knife but I’m thinking my time is coming.

Next episode, the socially awkward VP will insist I get this cool new tool called Synthesia because it has the letters "AI" in it. He doesn't really know what it's about but he heard it's fast and the other cool kids are doing it and he got targeted ads on LinkedIn or something. I'll roll my eyes more awkwardly than the uncanny valley avatars do then eventually just say "Ok fine" after a brief attempt to advise on the best use of our money and resources considering we also have Camtasia and Adobe.

Struggling to find a full-time E-Learning Developer job in Canada despite having the right skills. Any advice? - I have been working as a freelance E-Learning Developer for several years now, and most of my clients have been from the United States. I have worked on all kinds of projects, from content writing and instructional design to developing courses, managing Learning Management Systems, and launching courses. I have a lot of experience with Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, software simulations, and pretty much most of the tools used in e-learning development, from Camtasia and Adobe Creative Cloud to Synthesia and other AI tools. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, so I am quite technical and have worked on some pretty complex projects over the years. But even with all this experience, I am finding it incredibly hard to land a full-time job in Canada. The funny thing is that I can find freelance work with clients in the United States and have even received job offers, but finding a full-time employee position in Canada seems so much harder. I really need Canadian work experience, and honestly, I just want to work somewhere I can actually use my skills and be part of a team instead of constantly working on freelance projects. I have been applying for jobs, but at this point, I am not even sure if I am looking in the right places. Is anyone here working in e-learning, instructional design, or Learning Management System administration in Canada? Where do you usually find these jobs? Are there any companies, recruiters, or other places I should be looking at? I am open to E-Learning Developer, Learning Experience Designer, Learning Management System Administrator, or similar technical roles. Honestly, even if you could just point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. I am not sure where else to ask, so I thought I would try posting here.
