Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

My mum has only just been diagnosed, so I'm no expert, but the anger is a pretty typical symptom of the condition. Once the treatment begins they'll be able to give your dad something to reduce agitation and anxiety, so hopefully that will help keep the anger at bay. I was actually able to speak to a psychiatrist (organised through the geriatrician) who did a phone consultation with mum and the following day called to speak to me, as I'd spoken confidentially to the geriatrician about some of the issues mum was experiencing. That was really helpful, because I could be pretty frank with him about some of mum's issues, and he could be pretty frank with me too without worrying about upsetting her. When he asked my mum if she every gets angry she said no, never. But I said yes, often. And when I described some of her outbursts he recognised them as pretty typical and mentioned specific drugs he could prescribe to help calm the agitation. So if it's possible, make sure you mom is able to accompany your dad to appointments, and she can let the doctors know that there are some issues there. If I'm talking in front of my mum, I don't say things like "she loses her temper a lot," I say "she gets overwhelmed easily," and the doctors pick up on my hints. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. 59 is so young.

Hi my 88 yr old mom has Alzheimer's and I'm her full time carer and I'm a practising Catholic too. For about a year I brought her to Mass but found it hugely stressful, her coordination is poor so I was constantly watching her on the kneelers and going to Communion. She thought she was fine walking in and out of kneelers but tbh it was an accident waiting to happen. Also the agitation surrounding the outing was very stressful for me, she would snap at me in front of people when we'd be arriving or leaving, because I tried to link her in or didn't try to link her in, literally anything could trigger it. In the end, it became a hated chore and also she became more unsteady on her feet so anymore I go to Mass with my kids, and she watches Mass on the screen with my husband minding her. It just wasn't worth it in the end. I don't feel guilty about it either because that's not what Mass is supposed to be about. Also I don't take her out unless I absolutely have to, eg medical appointments, because it's really not practical anymore, it does her no good to bring her anywhere, it stresses both of us out and makes the job of caring for her even more difficult than it already is, so my tuppence worth is don't feel guilty, and do what is manageable for you. I go to Confession regularly and different priests totally understood and see nothing needing forgiveness by not bringing her because I have a family to think about. In fact a few of them have said put her in a home. I'm not planning to do that though.

Risperidone was a game changer for my mom’s agitation and paranoia. She also takes Zoloft.

Rexulti took my person's agitation down from 12 hour a day freakouts to fleeting moments once in a long while.

My mom is on lexapro and abilify and they seem to have really resolved her agitation. The abilify can make her mildly sedated but she’s very agreeable and happy now.
