Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

How can I help my parents? - My dad(59) recently found out his younger brother was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and got tested (despite me asking him to for years, but that's not the point). He begins treatment soon, but has been noticing deficits in memory lately and getting angry. I live across the country so I can't be there in person often to help, but my mom has called me a few times saying that he's yelling at her because he's noticing that he's forgetting things and is upset. She knows he's not really mad at her, and tells him that he's upset because he can't remember but I don't think that's helping. If anyone has any online resources that could be helpful to me or her to help him cope/ help us help him please send them my way

You're not alone or a horrible person for thinking this. We all want a fast and humane ending to this dreadful disease! It is a wish to end the misery and the indignity, a prayer for a merciful release, coming from love. It's not the same as planning a murder or killing someone. And it's OK to be angry; the wish for death comes from frustration because there's nothing else we can do to bring our loved ones back

You’re an angry and misguided person who cannot comprehend personal responsibility. Too bad.

My so-called "family" doesn't help support my LO with dementia - My mum has been battling dementia for a couple of years and it really has shown me who in the family cares and who doesn't. Even friends will come out of the woodworks to help or write letters while so called family members apparently don't give a rats ass. I feel so angry I want to cut them off.

I'm sorry. My grandmother passed from it and my mom has it. She lives with me and I help care for her. Donepezil- my mother takes it nightly and has had some help with little side effects. Angry Stage- my grandma got scared and violent and had to go to a home. My mother is just now getting a bit mad. It mostly comes when she doesn't understand what's happening or thinks we are treating her like a child. Our most recent argument was me arranging her meds. She still thinks she can handle it but she didn't refill a med. I reassured her I was trying to help and changed the subject. I brought it up again to her later saying it was her idea. It helped a little bit but she did get mad again. Maybe videos of you talking to yourself? Reminding you that your wife wants to help. That she loves and respects you. That you trust her. Advice- the only thing I can think to say is you can never over prepare and you'll never catch it all. That's ok. Try and be honest while you can. My mom gave up driving but only after she hit a decorative boulder near a parking lot. Know when to hand over the keys, credit cards, and deeds. No one is trying to steal from you but they are trying to protect you. Your loved ones will hurt. It's not just because they are living through it with you, but because they are sad to lose you. Don't push them away. Best of luck.
