   Because they are wealthy, have power, and they don't give a shit. I agree with you. It's a huge problem and is only going to get worse. And the thing is, it doesn't just affect the elderly. Their kids end up carrying the care burden. \[This is not a criticism of boomers -- every generation will face the unsustainable cost of care\]

   Why aren't there more programs to help elderly/Alzheimer's Patients - Almost every person in Congress or the White house is elderly. If there not one day they will be. But yet and still there is no or not enough support for elderly. Doctors, Insurance, Medication, Facilities whether it be long term care or Memory Care. And Im not talking about a government stinky dirty nursing home. Why isn't the elderly treated with respect? They work all their lives and for what to be treated like trash. None of this makes sense. **I WISH I HAD A VOICE/PLATFORM TO BE HEARD. I don't hear nor do I see any Government official doing anything about this issue and this is a huge issue and it effects everyone one way or another.**

   Thank you for this. You expressed it beautifully and I will keep it in mind. I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. My two cents: pneumonia is called "friend of the elderly". It is the gentlest and least painful way to go when the end has arrived. And when they stop eating, the end has arrived. I hope you don't hang on to questioning doing things differently at the end.

   My heart goes out to you. This journey is not easy. After the last year helping with my elderly mother though her roller coaster of medical issues, with short term memory exacerbated by her alcoholism, and ongoing discoveries of multiple co-morbidities which has resulted in being in and out of hospitals, I strongly suggest you make the move ahead of the inevitable and get her moved now.
