Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Incontinence, and emotional incontinence ! - just another incident from the front lines, and something I experienced, you might see this too. woke up this morning, I unlocked my office to get my now 6am pill.( I have medical issues as well). went back to bed, and awoke an hour later to find a large puddle of urine and solid waste deposited through the office, as well as the guest bath, only a little. I noticed the bathroom urine as it soaked into my stocking feet. paper towels, my pile of old bath towels, and a swifter wet jet soon put things right. she took off her pull-ups, evidently. She is starting to progress at a rather rapid pace, my caregiver agrees. going to have to start accelerating the time line, nothing new with this disease, just changes every day. I had noticed in the evening while watching TV, she will make these sacrcastic laughs, kind of inappropriate. I never ask, the aide noticed it as well. turns out this is a symptom , evidently the brain cant handle some of the things she sees, and that is the response. there is an actual acronym for it, I already forgot it, but also referred to as emotional incontnence. If you notice it, it might be this. stay steady, it will probably get worse As always, best of luck, and I know your pain and exasperation and everything else. Cut yourself some slack, you are doing the best you can. back to invisible drudge

Falls are what seem to be doing the most damage with my FIL… some of them caused by UTI… but also the fact that he has a Lasix prescription and has been refusing it for weeks… he ends up with cellulitis in one of his legs and has to go to the hospital… I’m guessing this will be a wash/rinse/repeat, but we just moved him into memory care this week, so the Lasix problem will sort itself out as their nurses are now administering all his meds. He, too, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2025. It’s been almost exactly a year for him now. Looking back, we certainly had signs—I started noticing him have balance problems in late 2024; I remember asking to carry his attaché case for him one time. He wouldn’t reply, but also wouldn’t let me carry it. I think that was a sign of trying to hold onto his autonomy for as long as possible. It might also have been suspicion, but he has never been much of a talker, so I never got an explanation from him for it. We have never seen any outward signs of him being suspicious of us. We’re in the phase where he is struggling more to get words out that other people can understand. On the verge of gibberish, which I know will be so frustrating for him during the times when he is still aware. He hasn’t forgotten names very much yet, but he has started wandering at night. I think if we’re “staging” him, his mind is somewhere in stage 5 but his body is in late stage 6 (incontinence). My MIL is convinced he will die very soon, so trying to get her to shut up when she’s in front of him is its own challenge 😬 — when he was diagnosed last September, she kept telling people she didn’t think he’d make it to his next birthday, which was January 2026. Since then I’ve been saying to her, “that’s usually not how dementia works.” He *does* have Heart Failure, so it may not be dementia that carries him off, but it’s not our job to play that guessing game right in front of him

Mother was diagnosed with early onset in 2020 (age 63) and I'd say she went through the stages pretty darn fast. She's in a home today but she's quite unable to hold coherent conversation, share a thought or even feed herself - she literally spends all day wandering up and down the halls. Steepest progression probably happened in year 3-4 of the diagnosis - that's when the incontinence and insomnia started to kick in and, with that, the start of perhaps the hardest period I've ever experienced in my life. Reflecting back on everything today, right now even, stirs up bittersweet emotions in remembering what we all went through to try our best to care for her.

Yes-attitude! With my LO’s incontinence, I was trying to put on a highly recommended Depends type. She yelled: Seriously?? I replied, yes, seriously.

My mom started being very difficult to travel with pretty early on even before incontinence and mobility problems. She just got way too anxious and it wasn’t worth it unless it was absolutely necessary. She’s stage 6 now and can’t really make any trips outside the house.
