Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

(M74) diagnosed with AD 2+ years ago. At 62 I think she is early onset. That would be different from my situation. I was offered injectables on 3 different occasions. Every time my wife, neurologist and I agreed to not participate. My progression has been very minimal and if I didn’t tell you I had AD you would not know. I’m doing pretty much all the things available to mitigate the effects of this disease. Diet, exercise, sleeping habits, lifestyle choices etc. I take Donepezil and Memantine daily, along with other medications for HBP, cholesterol and mood swings. I’m doing great. Still driving, shopping etc. I have become a bit of a “home body”. I’m just more comfortable here than out running around. I have been volunteering for years, but am slowly winding down on that. I spend a lot of time doing puzzles, reading and a few home projects. I know, boring, but it’s what works for me. I do memory exercises constantly and it certainly hasn’t hurt. A I wish you 2 the best. There is no cure, nor reversal, only mitigation and alleviation. Educate yourselves and make the best of it. I’m APOE3/4 for your information. Best wishes and good luck.

I posted this on another thread, but it seems relevant here.... My wife (55) was diagnosed with EOA a year ago. Her symptoms started before that. Her neurologist denied her the amyloid treatment because she believed it was too late and would not benefit my wife. The tests reveal no genetic cause for her condition (outside of a single copy of the APOE4 gene, but that's not associated with EOA, although I suppose that might be influenced by lifestyle, too). So, I'm left to look elsewhere. (This is where I get to your "all in" question) The doctor is only going to treat symptoms at this point. I firmly believe two major contributions to her condition have been poor sleep habits, and her picky diet (ie. the gut-brain axis). All my efforts have been to diminish those negative influences. So, outside of the usual donepezil and memantine, my wife is on hormone replacement therapy (estradiol patch and progesterone), and I have her on a slew of supplements, we go on near-daily walks, I have her at the local gym twice a week for workouts (including weight lifting) with a personal trainer, and have altered her diet as much as I can (she's still picky). We got her the shingles vaccine in February, and I will request the "high dose" flu vaccine when that comes around again. (she only got the low dose last time) My best description of her condition is "stable", based on my observations. But, it could be that we're not very far after the initial diagnosis, either. As far as when the process of AD started, that was likely 20 years ago. But, I've also seen a couple of things (very recently) that give me some encouragement. She seems more alert, and is putting on makeup (something she hasn't paid attention to in awhile). Whether I'm seeing things I want to see, and if it's related to everything we're doing, or the fact that I increased her Lithium Orotate dose a couple of weeks ago, I can't say for sure. It could be all of the above.

My opinion, based on everything I've read, is that no single solution/treatment has shown to cure or stop the progression of AD because the origin is multi-faceted, and I'm believing the cause starts outside the brain. There is evidence to back that up. That said, my wife (55) was diagnosed with EOA a year ago. Her symptoms started before that. Her neurologist denied her the amyloid treatment because she believed it was too late and would not benefit my wife. The tests reveal no genetic cause for her condition. Getting your loved one to acknowledge there might be a problem? UPDATE - Not sure if anyone remembers me but I posted about a month and a half ago worried about my dad who had been showing some signs. I was having a hard time getting him to acknowledge that he was starting to struggle with his memory. We got the diagnosis and are awaiting the PET scan to “confirm”. Here’s what I did to get him to the doctor in case anyone is curious or in a similar situation and looking for ideas: 1. Called his doctor again and told the office we were worried about him and that he would appreciate discretion the next time he came in for an appointment. As expected they wouldn’t tell us anything but said they would make a note of it. 2. Talked to my aunt, who is his sister in law and the wife of his brother who just passed from Alzheimer’s. She came up with the brilliant idea to suggest that his issues might be caused by something else, which he was much more receptive to. 3. Had my sister dig up his will and POA paperwork while doing some “spring cleaning” and discovered that it needed to be updated. So that’s being handled. I’ve started going with him to appointments so I’ve been able to put myself down on all the HIPPA paperwork. He went in for a follow up appointment to review some bloodwork (which I strongly believe was scheduled because of our phone call to his doctor) and while there he mentioned that he had been doing some research about the alternate issues my aunt suggested. They gave him a MOCA (he scored a 15), did more bloodwork, sent him for an MRI and referred him to neurology. Devastated, but so proud of him for how bravely he’s already faced this. He is cognizant of the diagnosis and has started on memantine. Thanks to everyone here who responded to my first post and made great suggestions. Oh, and the bank teller he was dating ghosted him so she’s out of the picture. Grateful for that too.

He's now 81... they went through UW memory and had a second opinion through UF Fixel institute if I recall correctly. He had a minor TIA last year so he's rejected from any of the ongoing studies. His firmly moderate stages with my aunt taking care of him. My mom was too far advanced for anything other than the donezepil and memantine at diagnosis and they did nothing ... she's 85 and just hitting out of moderate stage. I so hope you are correct so that my children won't face this with me.
