Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

My dad talks about other houses too at night. He still lives alone, but he rings and asks where he is and how he got from the other house. Sometimes he says it’s a beach house.

ISO organizations that helped your LO’s journey - Hi everyone. I’m sorry we’re all here under these circumstances. Are there any programs you wish you knew about before your LO needed respite or residential care? Any organization or grants that helped tremendously throughout your journey? Mom is 66 and has Alzheimer’s, mild/moderate but getting worse. Currently lives at home with her longtime partner. I (daughter) manage POA, doctors, etc. She can still eat, shower, etc. so I’m not looking to put her in memory care tomorrow. My goal is to keep her home for as long as it is safe and realistic. Her needs are increasing, especially when alone or at night. She gets very scared when he has to go to work and she’s alone, has confusion/paranoia about people being in the house, and will wake her partner multiple times throughout the night hearing things. At some point we are probably going to need more help and eventually memory care may become necessary. How do normal families realistically pay for this? My mom has Medicare, not Medicaid. She receives around $2,700/month from SS and has roughly $225K in pension assets. She also owns her home but still has a mortgage, $2,400/month. I know Medicare generally doesn’t pay for long-term custodial care/memory care. I know with her current assets she may not qualify for Medicaid long-term care right now. What scares me is seeing memory care prices of thousands of dollars per month. Are we seriously supposed to just burn through her entire retirement account paying privately? And then Medicaid takes over? I’m not trying to hide her assets or do anything questionable to qualify for Medicaid. I want her money used for HER and her care. I’m just trying to be smart about it so that what she worked her entire life for lasts as long as reasonably possible. I live in Louisiana. I’ve started researching parish resources, respite care grants, etc. to investigate whatever assistance is available before we start paying huge amounts privately. Thanks for reading. I hope everyone here has the best day possible! “Sunshine comes to all who feel rain.” - RM Drake

Our loved one does this, too. We tried giving her prescription sleep aids but then she fell in the bathroom in the middle of the night and that was horrible. We have double cylinder deadbolts on all doors leading to the exterior. Some of us in the family are night owls so if we see her up, we redirect her to bed. We point out that it's dark, it's time for bed. She also sleeps in a hospital bed with a slight elevation at the head and a TV near the foot of her bed. Sometimes watching a relaxing YouTube channel keeps her in bed at night.

Wandering at night - Hello all, my grandma is having trouble wandering at night. Its almost like sleep walking but it doesn't seem to be. She might go to the kitchen, or upstairs and sleep in another bed because she says hers is uncomfortable. I find she does this a lot when she sleeps too much during the day and doesn't get into a deep sleep. Has anyone else dealt with this? My grandpa is worries because she is a fall risk.

Advise for Sleeping Medication - My mom is 71, late stage Alzheimer’s, but still can walk and talk. Lately she’s been wandering around at night. She’s physically exhausted and wants to go back to bed but she just keeps walking back and forth asking questions. She finally goes to bed maybe at 11 when I do. And then she wakes up at 6 and is mad when I don’t want to get up. This is a change - she was previously sleeping quite well. This brings me to my question. I give her about 6mg melatonin and 75mg trazodone. I have an appointment with her doctor coming up, and I’m wondering what other sleep medications you may have had good experiences with. I’m thinking maybe her body had gotten used to the traz. I was originally going to see if we could up the dosage, but now I’m wondering if there’s something better or different we could try.
