Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

How is your country for admittance? My FiL is now bed ridden and my local hospital won’t refer him to a home because he’s “physically stable and has been medically cleared.” He is also in a home where he can get what they call “adequate care”. They refuse to give him a diagnosis, they say he’s just “getting old”. I’m trying to argue that I’m 4’10 and 95lbs and he’s 5’11 and 180 lbs and I have to lift thé man to clean him. On top of this I have a 5 month old and a 2 year old who is potty training. Their solution is to send a nurse over 3 times a week to bathe and cook for my FiL…. And then they complain about my cultural food and cook it wrong and he won’t eat it if they turn it into rubber wasting my food.

Yes, I'm brazilian. There's no help about this kind of diease here (we have free healthcare but no nurses to visit houses) so I need to deal with this all by myself. And I can't. She already took a not of medicine to try to calm her down and let us sleep a little but... Still hard. My grandfather refuses let her go tô a hospital of elderly carehome. I'm really burning, I don't know how much I can deal with It for so long, I just want to cry

You are an engineer not a nurse. Admitting our own lack of expertise isn’t shameful. It’s honest and the best thing for our LOs. My 83F mom decided on her own to move into assisted living (thanks to all deities that may or may not exist!). She wasn’t safe living alone. She needs someone in earshot 24/7. And quickly needed help bathing (but not yet toileting). I was lucky to find an affordable, wonderfully managed facility and a unit with 2 BRs so I can stay with her when I visit (I live 6 hours away, am self-employed and travel for work). While I wish I (57F) could afford to stop working and move her in with us, I know time will come when I cannot safely care for her. I will need help (and in-home care we can’t afford — but I keep buying lottery tickets). My job (and yours/your mom’s for your GM) is to keep her as happy as possible and safe from unnecessary pain until she passes. I venture to guess you are female since your dad thinks he can’t see GM naked but you can. The sexism in caregiving is overwhelming. Women/daughters are just expected to do it all and not work. I get “I’m too busy” from my POS brothers who live near my Mom (one works across the street and barely ever visits) as if I don’t have a career and can just pop by — from six hours away. I do what I can. Getting her house cleaned out and sold took a year and forced me to work part time. My bank account shows it. I think about how much smaller my retirement account will be compared to the POS brothers’ because I haven’t been able to contribute to it for two years. This is the bullshit that keeps women more poor than men. Don’t put up with it. You completed your education in difficult circumstances. Go focus on your career. Your 20s and 30s are the time to make money and build a career so you can rake it in during your 40s and 50s. Visit your GM when you can. Hold her hand and let her know you love her. But you can’t put your life on hold for years. And be sure to start saving for retirement with your first paycheck. Even if it’s $50 a month. You will appreciate it when you are 50 and if your health diminishes and you need extra care to be safe and happy.

I agree with the other comments. You need to move out. Give them 90 days notice that you will be leaving and other care arrangements need to be made. Give them 2 weeks notice that a part time nurse needs to be hired 3 days a week as those will be the days you are looking for a job. Leave at 8:00 am and do not return until 5:00 pm. Go to the library and stay there and look for a job. You are a lovely person for stepping up but it is time for you to move on. Your lack of experience in nursing isn’t helping your family. Nurses are trained in how to deal with advanced Alzheimer’s and how to redirect/stop harmful behaviors. Your grandmother needs to be in memory care. The right stimulation may slow down the disease and stop some of the destructive behaviors.

My wife was a nurse who worked in nursing homes for decades. She told me that one of her patients had returned from his doctor and had gone to his room and shot himself in the head. It turns out he was diagnosed by the doctor that he had Alzheimer’s. I always wonder how many “suicides” were self euthanasia.
