Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Condolences to you and your family. My prayer for you is for moments that make you smile more than they make you cry. May your dad know nothing but peace and joy on this part of his journey.

Thank you for sharing such a deeply personal and honest journey. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s is an emotional experience filled with love, exhaustion, guilt, grief, and moments of helplessness. Please don’t be too hard on yourself for the times you lost your temper. You were human, overwhelmed and trying to navigate something incredibly painful. The fact that you sought support from professionals and surrounded yourself with help shows immense courage and love. Caregivers need care too. Though she may no longer call you by your name, the bond you share is far deeper than words. May the memories you cherish bring you strength, and may she continue to feel your love and presence, even as her memories fade. Sending you both compassion, strength and peace through this difficult journey.

I have no evidence of this, but I really do feel this: she may not know who you are anymore, and she may not be able to recall memories of you, but I’m convinced she can still register a feeling of safety with you. I think as the disease progresses, people become much more present-focused. Even when memory and language are profoundly impaired, things like touch, tone of voice, music, facial expression, warmth, fear, comfort, and calm can still reach them. She may not be able to understand *why* you feel familiar or safe to her, or put any of it into words, but I’d like to believe that some part of that feeling remains. I’m sorry. The emotions can be so heavy— loss, sadness, grief, mingled with a conflicting desire that an end would come. I’m sending a big hug, and a prayer for peace for you and your family. 🤍

I am so sorry. I know this is a regular story as well. I retired at 57 because I got Lucky and my wife’s father in law left us a 30 acre farm and enough to build a small home on it. The roll of parent child is reversing on my father and I and he sobs that he is going to be a burden and doesn’t want to leave his home. I say Dad- I was a pain in the ass burden much of my teenage years and got married young and have always provided for myself. But dad was always there to help me with a build project on a home or we shared the same profession our whole lives and when he was retired and I was behind the curve at work- I hired him and we got to work together. Amazing man. This is sad. My wife and I are the only ones left. We lost her mom to cancer then my sister to cancer then her brother to cancer then her dad to congestive heart failure then My mom to -well- suicide in my opinion (she had pneumonia and chose not to take antibiotic for wacko beliefs). I’m at peace with death. I am no where close to at peace with this with my dad. I’m 59 and glad I retired broke. At least I can take care of him as long as I can physically and mentally do it. But it’s a cruel disease
