Regarding your comment "then take a trip to Sweden when it’s time": First, I think it's Switzerland you want to check out, not Sweden. Unfortunately, however, getting qualified / approved with an Alzheimer's diagnosis might make getting approved problematic. One of the challenges for a person with Alzheimer's is knowing when it's time take action--wait too long & you're no longer deemed "mentally competent" and you won't qualify for MAID anywhere. Anyone interested in the MAID / Death with Dignity movement would benefit by reading the books The Peaceful Pill &/or Final Exit. Lastly, is a great resource for Americans who don't live in states where MAID is legal &/or who can't afford / don't want to travel to Europe. Those with a dimentia / Alzheimer's diagnosis might want to check out So sorry about your diagnosis..."tough day" to say the least.

Donepezil did nothing that we could decern from our family members. Please plan with a detailed advanced directive and estate planning in case Sweden doesn't occur before you progress.

Such solid thoughts... and I'll add to giving the wife firm directives that if plans to Sweden fail? That she is to seek care once it's too much. On that same theme please have a detailed advanced directive that covers feeding tubes ... IV's for anything other than pain meds... no artificial respiration... no surgical interventions as well as the typical DNR details.
