Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I didnt check the other responses but I've heard when elderly people have UTIs they can have symptoms of dementia.

Falls are what seem to be doing the most damage with my FIL… some of them caused by UTI… but also the fact that he has a Lasix prescription and has been refusing it for weeks… he ends up with cellulitis in one of his legs and has to go to the hospital… I’m guessing this will be a wash/rinse/repeat, but we just moved him into memory care this week, so the Lasix problem will sort itself out as their nurses are now administering all his meds. He, too, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2025. It’s been almost exactly a year for him now. Looking back, we certainly had signs—I started noticing him have balance problems in late 2024; I remember asking to carry his attaché case for him one time. He wouldn’t reply, but also wouldn’t let me carry it. I think that was a sign of trying to hold onto his autonomy for as long as possible. It might also have been suspicion, but he has never been much of a talker, so I never got an explanation from him for it. We have never seen any outward signs of him being suspicious of us. We’re in the phase where he is struggling more to get words out that other people can understand. On the verge of gibberish, which I know will be so frustrating for him during the times when he is still aware. He hasn’t forgotten names very much yet, but he has started wandering at night. I think if we’re “staging” him, his mind is somewhere in stage 5 but his body is in late stage 6 (incontinence). My MIL is convinced he will die very soon, so trying to get her to shut up when she’s in front of him is its own challenge 😬 — when he was diagnosed last September, she kept telling people she didn’t think he’d make it to his next birthday, which was January 2026. Since then I’ve been saying to her, “that’s usually not how dementia works.” He *does* have Heart Failure, so it may not be dementia that carries him off, but it’s not our job to play that guessing game right in front of him

My dad (78) was stage 3/4 for about 4 years. Hard to tell because someday he was more stage 3, but mostly stage 4. Not sure how long the previous stages were because he and my mom hid it well (unintentionally or intentionally). Earlier this year he became clearly more of a stage 4/5. And then in the past two weeks, he very rapidly declined to where he sometimes would forget how to walk when just the previous week he was averaging like 2 miles a day. Had many evaluations to rule out uti or something else. Dreading the future stages.

My 64 year old eoa wife stage 6 diagnosed in 2019? I’m tired of being a caregiver. But with help from in home caregivers we are surviving. She had a recent suspected uti which we treated. But now is getting really angry. Both of us didn’t get much sleep these last couple of nights. Finally got a gummy in her and she is mellowing a little bit It’s so hard to understand what’s going on. You think you’ve got it figured out until you don’t.
