Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

On the most extreme ends of each: Euro- Themeless abstract efficiency puzzles about placing wooden cubes on colored tracks in order to go up other colored tracks. Minimal player interaction. You are playing multiplayer solitaire in order to solve the efficiency puzzle faster than others. Almost anything that comes out of Germany. Ameritrash- Mashing masses of plastic against each other to trigger battle dice to go PEW PEW PEW. I don't get snobby about either, but I do need SOME kind of interesting theme and mechanics that at least vaguely tie into it. I will never understand the appeal of stuff like Splendor or Dominion (themeless), Wingspan (mechanics that tie into a boring theme), or Revenant (interesting theme, most generic euro mechanics about colored tracks moving up other colored tracks that could have been any other game).

It's exciting for a deck builder that's Dominion/Ascension style where you still have to build an economy and slowly purchase things. But for like an Ameritrash game where you have cool minis fighting two pounds of enemy monsters with tons of dice chucking, yeah it will be boring compared to that.

Review my board game collection. What am I missing? - I've been slowly putting together a board game collection, and I'd love some opinions from people who have played a lot more games than I have. This is not a list of games I currently own. Some of these I've already bought, some I've played at board game clubs near me, and some I haven't played yet but have watched full playthroughs of on YouTube. Basically, this is the collection I'd like to eventually have. The list is formatted with AI I'm not trying to collect every major mechanism. I tend to prefer games with meaningful interaction, bluffing/deduction, negotiation, tactical decisions, spatial decisions, and uncertainty. A few constraints/preferences: * I generally dislike Ameritrash. I don't want games where the main appeal is lots of components, combat, miniatures, or elaborate rules. * **Rules explanation should ideally take 10 minutes or less. Gameplay should ideally be under an hour.** * I'm not particularly interested in adding a game just because it has worker placement, deck building or engine building if the underlying experience is mostly "invest now to make future turns more efficient." * I also deliberately want some lighter/nostalgic games that I can play with non-gamers. # Building / spatial / economic * **Business** (Indian version of Monopoly) Nostalgia game * **Monopoly Deal** Lighter travel version. * **Acquire** mandatory Sid Sackson representation * **Catan** Haven't played full game yet, need to try. * **Carcassonne** * **Sequence** # Deduction / hidden information / tactical * **Investigator** Indian/modified version of Cluedo. It uses a grid and dice movement, with a different movement system from standard Cluedo. * **Coup** * **Scotland Yard** * **Captain Sonar** * **Fugitive** * **Sheriff of Nottingham** * **Sniper Elite** Haven't played a full game yet, need to try. # Risk / racing / tactical card games * **Deep Sea Adventure** * **Heat: Pedal to the Metal** * **Staccs** Haven't played yet, but like Carcassone, I really liked the board created at the end of the game * **Startups** Love the the combination of deception, trading, majority control and No Thanks!-style decisions. # Auctions / economics / strategy - mandatory Reiner Knizia * **Modern Art** * **High Society** * **Lost Cities** # Party / creative * **Dixit** * **Monikers** * **Ugg Tect** For Ugg Tect, I've heard people say Poetry for Neanderthals is better, but I actually think house-ruling Ugg Tect creates a more fun, chaotic and chaos-loving game, which is exactly why I'd prefer to keep it. # Word / communication * **Codenames** * **Letter Jam** * **Scrabble** * **Decrypto** * **Chameleon** # Social deduction * **Secret Hitler** * **Avalon** * **One Night Werewolf** Specifically because I want the ridiculous one-minute, maximum-chaos version of Werewolf. * **Blood on the Clocktower** # Please review the collection!!! What major type of game or experience am I missing? Would be great to try them nearby or watch some playthroughs before committing to buy them

Ameritrash is the name for the inane roll-and-move shitty megacorp games that have been churned out in infinite interations for 80+ years for pure profit, rather than for entertainment and engagement. Monopoly sorry, monopoly, life, trivial pursuit, monopoly, mousetrap, candyland, monopoly. Ameritrash doesn't include modern games, games that are not dice-based (stratego, battleship) or games from Avalon and other non megacorp makers. It does not mean all american games are trash. It means that, though European studios made hundreds of engaging games for all ages over the last 50 years, US megacorps continued to churn out absolute garbage. It's up to us to teach people that games are fun, engaging, and worth playing again. Cuz the only thing hasbro, mattel and other megacorps want from parents and new players is as much money as they're willing to part with on xmas and their kids birthday. They do not care if you ever open the box, let alone enjoy it.

Ameritrash games are heavy on the theme and tend to be more luck-based, compared to eurogames which tend more towards strategy. As a rough guideline, if you're rolling a lot of dice, it's probably Ameritrash, but that's not always true. Looking at my own collection, I would classify War of the Ring as Ameritrash (tons of dice rolling and luck, highly thematic) and Roll for the Galaxy as a Eurogame (even though it still has tons of dice rolling, the dice are determining the actions you can take rather than directly deciding whether or not each action succeeds).
