Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I can't agree with this more. My boardgaming friends haven't played a "gateway" game in their life, but we enjoy SETI, DI: Uprising, Arcs, among other heavy games and dont shy away from learning a new game if they're interested. If you're friends aren't interested in learning a game, there's no workaround... as someone somewhere on the internet once probably said: it's easier to make a boardgamer your friend than to make your friend a boardgamer.

I play games like Kanban EV, SETI, Brass, Ark Nova, Age of Innovation and many other heavy games, but I also love Clank, Harmonies, Flip7wav, and many other easier games. Sometimes they are just fillers, sometimes you just don't want something heavy, sometimes those easier games are deep enough that strategy and thoughfullness is rewarded so a person trying hard enough is still rewarded with the victory for their efforts.

I've been eyeing rebirth as it looks beautiful, to be honest me and my wife aren't really into heavy games so always on the lookout, heaviest we've gone is Brew which we loved, although I do have a copy of Antike Duellum coming that she's not aware of haha

Lacerda sits in a very weird place in the hobby. People seem to be really polarized, some hate his games, some think they are the best ever, but overall there seems to linger the sentiment that they are so complex and overly rules heavy. But compare his games to Garphill games, and especially the South Tigris -series, or any other heavy designs, and they are not any different. I've played a lot of heavy games, and those South Tigris games are way more rules heavy, and complicated than Lacerdas in general are. Lacerda is an excellent designer of heavy euro games. Nothing more, nothing less. Not every game he makes is a game you should automatically like, but quality is not bad for any of them.

This is how my group is run. For less heavy games we are comfortable with doing a quick 10 minutes max teach but generally we all know what is going on before we arrive. Even for heavy games I'm fine getting the quick overview and just running with it. It's just a game, losing doesn't diminish the fun with my wife and 2 friends
