Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

That's not a game issue, that's a player issue. Clank in space would still have the same player problem. And why is your group trying to keep other people alive in a competitive game? Sure you can and should provide them tips on their turns seeing they are new, but you shouldn't play competitive games as if they are coops, that will just screw the entire game experience for everyone imo.

I played a similar game, but sinking ships... you draw a "base" with X number of starting points for X ships for each player, everyone draws some islands wherever they want...than you take turns and try to sink opponents ships before they sink yours (if you hit an island that ship is lost of course) edit: we played this with toy cars, made a track in the mud/dirt, and flicked the cars 3 times each, the game was thus called 1-2-3 edit2: typo

I’m a Wehrle playtester. I’ve played more Root than most, including every faction multiple times. I think I know how to play Root. You can’t not play this as a wargame. But the very point of the game is that there’s always at least one faction not engaging in direct, army-based warfare. 3P is two high-reach factions and one political/chaos/intrigue faction. Which is Root at it’s very best. But no, I’m not talking base Root. Although I would still prefer base at 3P simply to not include VB. Root at 4P is chaotic in the mathematical sense. With 3 days of turns between your turns, predicting the boardgame for your next turn from initial conditions is an almost fruitless exercise, and even if you can, it might take upwards of 30 minutes between your turns. 4P Root, like 4P Pamir, is a game almost completely made up of reactions, rather than actions or plans. 3P is infinitely sharper, not to mention meaner.

I really don't understand *what* was engaging about them though. A player at the table would explain what they were doing, and often why, take their move, then we'd get a cutaway of that person explaining what they did and why, followed by a terrible pun which they were clearly forced to ad-lib in the moment. It added nothing to the show, other than padding for time, unless you had such a short attention span that you weren't watching them play. Some of the guests were also clearly uncomfortable doing them. Also, you say that a lot of people can't banter in the moment. That's true for regular people, but rarely for the celebrities who featured on the show, as evidenced by them bantering in the moment before their cutaway, and throughout other players' turns. They specifically chose guests who would be fun to play with, and would be able to avoid awkward silences. I know it sounds like I'm angry about this, but I'm not. I'm just frustrated. The idea that the show wouldn't have been successful without the cutaways doesn't make sense to me. I'm watching to see celebrities play the game and have fun. I'm not watching to see a pale imitation of The Office, with Wil Wheaton playing Dwight.

We played a modified version with 3 teams, where teammates sit across from each other and take turns simultaneously, but can only attack the players adjacent to them. It works well and makes it play a lot faster. The one issue with Dice Throne when you get more than 3 people is that it takes so long between your turns.
