   4 door, manual, AWD for low $30k. Literally no other car offers a similar experience. Gotta go up to $40k for a GR Corolla, and then that is literally it for manual + AWD.

   If its not broken, why fix it? This setup works and nobody at home has plans to get an EV anytime soon. Spending $30,000 doesn't really make sense if you don't need to. If the home gets sold, $30k is a drop in the bucket for the next owner on their list of stuff to take care of.

   I couldn't afford the EV's that interest me. I wanted to enjoy the car I was spending money on and none of the EV's in my price range were even remotely exciting. There's basically no market for fun and affordable EV's. Closest was an Ionic 5N which was about $30k more than what I ended up getting. Also Charging infrastructure in my area is limited at best and non-existent/broken constantly at worst. Yes I could install a charger at home but that's added complexity and cost for something that I ultimately just don't want.

   Exactly. And even then, the new cars in that \~$30k price range are typically small and fuel-efficient enough already that the sting of higher gas prices is even further diluted.

   Chery is mostly a budget brand that focuses on being cheap. I wouldn’t get them either. But let’s just say not all Chinese brands are Chery, and they don’t export the best models outside of China. My family member’s Huawei M9 is better than his fully loaded S-class in every way, and something like my i4 would look bad against $30k EVs in China. But outside China the situation is a bit different. They aren’t exporting many medium to high end cars and they are trying to take the market by going for low cost models. Using the example above, not a single Huawei model is available outside of China. So of course this $30k Chery (which they sell for like $20k in China) isn’t as impressive
