Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Ummm… people who don’t have their own driveway with a charger? People who need a truck for less than $60k? People who regularly drive more than 300 miles one way? People that don’t want an electric car? City dwellers who park on the street?

    >it wouldn’t really impact their decision to spend $60k on a new vehicle. I think this is an unfair comparison. You either need to look at the marginal price of a like-for-like replacement, in which case you already have your existing vehicle as an asset. Or you need to factor in you'd need to buy a new gas car anyway. Plus, EV's have a lot lower total costs of ownership once you look beyond the initial 3-year lease cycle and look into the used market. Once you start comparing "I just need 4 seats and a wheel" in the used $1x,000 $2x,000 market - the economics start looking considerably more attractive.

Looks like the average American drives \~14000mi/year, which at 25 mpg gives about 560gal, and at $5/gal is \~$233/mo. I’m not saying that’s nothing, but I imagine for a lot of people buying new vehicles, even if that went up another 20% (\~46/mo) it wouldn’t really impact their decision to spend $60k on a new vehicle.

Gotcha. Well yeah, of course it's smart for them to offer affordable options. Any mainstream manufacturer needs to. But the RAV4 tops out at $51k, not $60k.

  5. Comment

I think that is part of where the Extra $60k goes for the price difference between the GT and the SC.
