   Cheap cheap cheap, having to touch the screen to move the air vents is a boneheaded design choice.

   Having tried my buddy's R2 (and an R1S last year), there's just so many bad design/engineering decisions when it comes to Rivian, I don't think the good stuff makes up for it at all. * The door handles are asinine at best * No CarPlay (this is a huge one for me) and they want to charge you a subscription for their software * No buttons anywhere in the car * The range is far below the EPA estimate such that I think they're gonna get sued and lose * No physical controls for the damn air vents. And before Reddit goes "wHY ARe YoU FIdDlINg wITh thE aC So MUcH" - try having kids or needy passengers. * The steering wheel controls are a solution in search of a problem. * The software is mediocre, which is just lemon juice on the no-CarPlay wound. I will say the materials in the car are excellent, far above the competition, as is the handling/ride.

   i like having heated steering wheels even on the coldest summer mornings - but only for maybe 10-15 minutes. I adjust the air vents and air speed quite a bit on some drives. If i'm coming back from a workout or hike I want cold air blasting my body. If I'm tired on a long drive i blast air in my face. Otherwise I prefer not to have the vents directed straight at me. I also fiddle with the sport/eco modes depending on mood. Oh, and i use the air recirculation every so often because there's a ton of construction on the highways around me.

   Ya i am not buying that running components to the air vents and adding software to control that via the tablet is cheaper than traditional manual vents. This seems like an intentional design choice not an economical one

   Like the harness and motors now required for air vents vs letting you do it with your hands as it has been since the very first ones?
