   I’d like something smaller but I’m not too thrilled about the Korean offerings, so I’ve been considering Mach-E or Lyriq because they both have CarPlay and I’d prefer to buy something American. I’m sort of a broken record on this sub gushing over the Renault 5, but it’s forbidden fruit here. Rivian R3 also looks promising but it’s sort of in the same waiting forever stage… and they refuse to implement CarPlay… and their service network is kinda scary. Tesla might be the only non-CarPlay vehicle I would consider and they have a local service center in my town. Too bad.

The Silverado/Sierra EV, R1T, Tesla Trapezoid were all middling to awful in our test drives. Reviewers really don't do a great job of running through the stuff that actually matters day to day.

   GM could add CarPlay back to their cars and I would at least consider a test drive. But it’s an automatic pass without CarPlay.

   Having tried my buddy's R2 (and an R1S last year), there's just so many bad design/engineering decisions when it comes to Rivian, I don't think the good stuff makes up for it at all. * The door handles are asinine at best * No CarPlay (this is a huge one for me) and they want to charge you a subscription for their software * No buttons anywhere in the car * The range is far below the EPA estimate such that I think they're gonna get sued and lose * No physical controls for the damn air vents. And before Reddit goes "wHY ARe YoU FIdDlINg wITh thE aC So MUcH" - try having kids or needy passengers. * The steering wheel controls are a solution in search of a problem. * The software is mediocre, which is just lemon juice on the no-CarPlay wound. I will say the materials in the car are excellent, far above the competition, as is the handling/ride.

   Because it's already dead, they have no Carplay or Android auto, poor range, poor comfort, parts down the road will be astromically expensive out of warranty, and insurance is expensive on them.
