   One of the main reasons is that the excessive tax on ICE cars has been cut on EVs. Beforehand diesel and gasoline cars were hit by by up to 150% tax. So they were extremely expensive. They are also subject to yearly taxes depending on their weight/pollution level. So gas car would easily be about 2000 kr. An EV, regardless of size is right now only hit by \~900 kr. Buying an EV <400k means no added tax. Even above is not overly bad either, but I don't remember the percentage. Other countries (luckily) doesn't have an insane tax on their cars. But it also makes it harder to convince people to switch to EV. Though, the current fuel prices might just do a number on that.

The dependence is lower, as stuff like the Iran war raising oil prices has less effect on a country if a higher percentage of their cars are BEVs rather than ICE cars. You can generate electricity from solar, from wind, from hydro, etc. A country can become self sufficient if they can provide their own electricity and not have to depend on oil shipments from a war zone. For example, in some countries where solar is popular, owners of BEVs are using solar to charge their cars. Those owners are not as affected as much by rising gas prices because of the Iran war (ultimately, you can't avoid the effect of rising gas prices because it affects all sorts of products, but you can mitigate it).

   Fossil cars have bracketed tax from 25-150%. EVs are 0-150% but the 0% bracket goes way higher than the 80% bracket for ICE. The 0% bracket on EVs go all the way up to about $65,000. So for example a normal ICE car might end up having 100% tax, where a identical EV has 0%. For expensive cars then it might be 140% for ICE and 30% for EV. Plus gas is extremely expensive and electricity is cheap. So you save a shit ton of money. It makes absolutely no sense in Denmark to buy a fossil car new, so the headline isn't really that surprising. It's hard to even find any brands at all that sell ICE cars, they stopped selling them entirely at this point. For example, I wanted to buy a new car. I couldn't afford a Toyota Corolla so I got a Model 3 Performance instead because it was cheaper. It gets even worse with more expensive cars. For example a Toyota Land Cruiser in Denmark is $240,000 and $58,000 in the USA. A Model Y is $47k in Denmark after 25% VAT, and $40k in the USA. Gasoline for 40,000km a year might cost around $8,000 or $1,000 for electricity.

If you paid for those things, they shouldn't be showing ads there. If there's a third party who's delivering something you are getting for free, then an ad is fine. Some companies advertise you through a product you paid for, and that's bullshit, too. Billboards are also bullshit. So are those screens that play ads while you buy a company's gas, bullshit. BMW isn't giving away their car for free. You paid for that. It's bullshit that they continue to advertise to you after you paid for it. It's bad enough we're bombarded with ads nearly 24/7, but if I buy an $80K car, I sure as fucking hell don't want to be advertised to while I'm driving it.
