Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Is there a single electric coupe sold in the US? No? There. That's why people are buying gas cars. It is insane to me how everyone shits on every car design, while simultaneously suggesting there is no reason to buy anything other than a hybrid Rav4. I would bet $100 OP is not from the US and certainly sees transportation as simply getting from point A to point B.

Rav4 Hybrid? Camry? Prius? These aren’t “pure combustion” and don’t require charging, so there’s no excuse basically other than supply and niche preferences like sports cars.

I don't think it's that counter-intuitive. Yes, you are technically correct that all HEVs harness 100% of their power from the engine just like traditional ICE vehicles do, but beyond that they really don't have any drivetrain similarities, and no one in their right mind is roping them into the same kind of category. On this enthusiast subreddit people are still going to call a Prius Prime as soulless as a regular Prius even though the latter gets 100% of its energy from combustion the same way a Carrera GT does. Like, if you asked someone if a RAV4 hybrid was closer to regular RAV4 or a RAV4 Prime, almost everyone would say it was closer to the Prime. And they'd be right. The only difference between those two is that the Prime has larger batteries and port that you can plug a charger into.

Listen, if the Rogue can compete with the RAV4 still the next time my family goes car shopping, I’ll do my part and get a crossover that they will hopefully repurpose the profit margin into GTR R&D.

Plenty of people have more than enough money that fuel prices are irrelevant. Also hybrids are still only offered by a limited number of automakers in a limited number of vehicles. Many markets still have limited access to really good EVs at affordable prices. That said, any automaker betting their future on non-hybrid gasoline vehicles is not in a very good position. GM proudly skipping hybrids has been a massive mistake. I can see the gasoline vehicle market going full hybrid fairly quickly give there are basically no downsides at this point (better performance, reliability, and fuel economy) with near negligible price premiums. The all hybrid Camry, RAV4, and Sienna cost less than $1,000 more than non-hybrids from many competitors like Honda.
