Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

I am not against EVs, I've been driving my paid off manual shitbox since 2018, I don't want to be in the market, I do not want to do research, call dealerships, call Facebook marketplace people, call private sellers for weeks. I want to drive my current car into the damn dirt. I pray to the invisible flying spaghetti monster in the sky that I don't get t-boned from a shit driver. Even if I were in the market, I live in an apartment complex, I don't have adequate at-home charging(I could run a long ass extension cord from the home outlet all the way to EV, sure(don't do this, for anybody reading, it's a fire hazard and a very dumb idea) If I owned my own home, I would totally be down to buy an EV for my next vehicle. Now, about the linked article which, I will not click and give views to, which means I also didn't read it, only the title. Totally makes sense to me, if I needed to buy a new car; hybrid would be probably where I start my Google search. I do believe EVs are the future, I'm picturing solid state battery charging in 5 minutes, so my current car just has to keep chugging along for another 30 years

Mazda and Toyota have partnered up some. Rumors they are working on a joint sports car together. Toyota has also said they plan to have solid state batteries available in two to three years. I know its extremely naive of me but I'd like to think the new miata will accomplish its goals with new solid state batteries 🤞

  3. Comment

If they can get some solid state batteries in it, with a 50 kWh battery pack weighing under 300 lbs (~400 Wh/kg), They could pull it off. And if they used very fast charging, they could reduce capacity (weight) even more. Though we've been waiting it seems forever for SSB.

  4. Comment

They may also be making the chassis electric ready, betting on solid state batteries being a thing in the next 10 years. I doubt that the NE will launch with an electric option but if they've done their homework they'll have designed it so that it won't need a massive lithium based battery pack. Solid state is still heavy but about half the weight of conventional EV packs for the same output. I would love if the Japanese would just create a standard for modularity and all sign off on it. We have standardized lead acid batteries, and mostly standardized charging systems (that happened without anyone having a plan, really), so if a consortium of manufacturers got on board *now* we'd have hot swappable, user serviceable packs within 5 years.

Unless they got some super secret solid state battery under wraps.
