   >shocked it didn’t even have a center armrest Personal preference, I guess, but two years of owning it and I don't care about that. The seat bolster is usually where my arm ends up resting if it's not on the steering wheel or shifter, and that's been plenty enough. My old Juke Nismo RS was similar - due to the seating position and the bolsters on the Recaros, I never used the optional armrest that car had, and it just became a place for crap to accumulate (usually microfiber cloths).

   I was considering one, but I had trouble with the A pillar blocking visibility, and the steering wheel blocking the gauges. I really do like the look, so it's a shame.

   Same car for me. Steering wheel started peeling off (dealership said it was dirty and sanded it but I was not dumb). I had the 4x4 manual version so it might be due to that but fuck the first gear was so damn long it was stupid, same for the 6th gear where a small incline on the highway you needed to downshift to maintain speed. And the worst offender to me was the rust. I had two rust spot on the roof (car was 3 yo), galvanization or whatever a normal car manufacturer does was just a joke. My car at 4y mark got a « rust » warning at the inspection. My wife car that slept outside and 150k km didn’t get it before the 10y mark, and that’s a French « cheap » car. Got rid of it just after 1y of owning it, I loved the gen 3 though.

   Anyone else have a car they just never got along with? - Has anyone ever had a car that either through unreliability or luck that they just did not get along with? I had 2 examples of the gen 4 Mazda 3s, both top spec with the Skyactiv X engine. Very well equipped, beautiful looking and drives very nicely too. The first one got rear ended and I liked it enough that I replaced it with a 2nd updated model. I got rid of 2 months ago and I feel relieved to be honest. A number of events happened and general quality issues in my ownership which resulted in me not bonding with it such as: * Carbon buildup on the injectors which destroyed the cat luckily covered by extended warranty. * Weeks after that fix, rear ended which wrote off the car - yes they are cursed. * Hit a pothole which destroyed a wheel and tyre. Needed to car to travel to a funeral so ended up having to hire a car in the end. * Tensioner also failed around this time. * Cheap interior. While it looks lovely, the instrument binnacle scratches with a gentle wipe of anything, same with piano black, the steering wheel is peeling at 3y, red burgundy leather seats are very cheap coated leather. I wouldn't say the car was unreliable but overall, the events above were spread over the 3 years I owned these 2 cars so I didn't really have an extended period where I was just able to enjoy the car. The funeral was the biggest let down. I tried so hard to get the issues fixed as I had to travel a long way for it and it felt like fate was preventing me from using my own car. During my ownership, I also got laid off from my job, the severance payment did allow me to change my car and I was very glad to get rid of it. I'm not normally superstitious but it does seem like Mazda 3s are bad luck! Anyway, interested to hear if anyone else has a similar experience with a car.

   The same idiot who 5 years ago the general public believed was a super genius. Politics aside, I'm not a musk fanboy... I don't own a Tesla... A cybertruck that looks stupid and requires me to stop every hour when towing my race car is not something I'm interested in .. but credit where it is due, the newest self driving is absolutely amazing. My neighbor bought one and I borrowed it for a day... I genuinely did not touch the steering wheel or pedals one time, and it was not scary at all. You can put it in a mode where the screens show you everything it's mapping out in real time... It's pretty incredible. Finds its own parking spots, backs in.. the actual future of self driving cars is happening right noww
