People only want large trucks and SUV's because it's what is marketed to them. US manufacturers spend substantially more on advertising to convince consumers to buy larger vehicles because they have larger profit margins on them. Nothing to do with capability.

I genuinely dont understand the "sitting up high" BS, every time I have to drive my Mom's SUV I am just uncomfortable with how enormous it is, it feels like I'm remote controlling a Jaeger in Pacific Rim She went from a Tahoe to the new Land Rover Defender and when I made a comment about the size she said "it's so small, right?". No, it feels enormous compared to my civic or the 3 series I used to drive
