   I have a heated steering wheel but like my hands to be warm as a heated wheel only warms the inside of your hand. And again once my hands are warm will point the vents towards my face or chest depending on what clothes I was wearing during a -30 day. The programmed start still doesn’t address ever having another person in there.

   Digitally operated vents are a plus for me though, then both me and my wife can setup the vents how we want them and it can automatically set it upon entering the car. No longer messing with the vents physically.

   When I get in a hot car I aim the vents directly at me. After it cools down I move them so they don't blow directly on my hands and face. So in the summer I move them around a lot.

   Having a motor for the vents is great, because they can then do things in software like oscillation which is far superior to having the vents blowing ice cold air on one specific part of my body. The new Model Y has this and it's an awesome feature.

   Yes you did though. He is saying that there are instances where people want to adjust them at will, like some passenger might want to alternate between the vent blowing directly on them or away during one drive. A driver preset doesn’t solve that problem at all. You would still want to manually adjust it with touch controls or by moving the vent itself. I’m not arguing his point I’m just helping you understand his point a little better.
