imho it's better to try it from higher quality brands that know what they're handling, so lighter-medium roasting. the mouthfeel and intensity will still be there, but products like Raaka 100% Kokoa Kamili, Firetree 100% Solomon Islands or Pralus 100% Madagascar aren't THAT bitter, same thing for black coffee with lighter-medium roasting. they do not inherently taste like tires! they both can be quite fruity in fact. not to say you shouldn't like something, just that dark roasts do not give a precise representation of the way cacao tastes

Madagascar has Criollo beans as well so it makes sense to me

The little bit of nuttiness in the GR was a departure from what I expect in a Madagascar bar. I feel like Truly's and Fjak's Madagascar bars were more in line with a typical representation of Madagascar. All tasty nonetheless.

Ajala's Madagascar is the last chocolate bar I've had. not my favourite from them (it's still the Ecuador one imho) but still good. I posted about the GR one being the perfect textbook Madagascar bar a few weeks ago. I actually had no idea Fjak produced a Madagascar bar
