Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

The Cocoa Bean + Cocoa Butter content for Hersey's milk chocolate is <11%. So 89% of it is sugar, milk solids, and who knows what else. On a separate note. I recently had a Kit Kat in Japan and it was night and day difference to the ones in the US. More chocolate to wafer ratio, not as sweet, and doesn't have the burning aftertaste.

Milk chocolate filled with dulce de leche! -

Hershey's did try to lobby the FDA (food regulatory agency in US) to change the definition of chocolate so they can use less actual cocoa in their product & maintain the name (vs. "chocolate-flavored confection/candy" or something like that) The only decent use of their milk chocolate is for s'mores. Otherwise, it's obvs why the milk chocolate is always left behind in the assortment pack w Mr. Goodbar, Krackle & Special Dark.

Yes even candy bars that show "milk chocolate" instead of "chocolate coating" or something still doesn't taste like it used to. Sadly these candy manufacturers all have spent millions on R&D to find the cheapest way to churn out their candy while raising prices on us customers and shrinking their products. Not only giving us less but using cheaper lower quality ingredients to save them money. It really sucks.

  5. Comment

Legally, yes, in most major markets. White chocolate is made from cocoa butter, the fat pressed from cacao beans, plus milk and plus sugar. What it doesn't have is cocoa solids/fibers+proteins, the part that gives dark and milk chocolate their brown color and most of its flavor. That's why people argue about it. I saw someone else posted a link with a good source of the legal definitions of EU and USA . Adding the two markets it doesn't cover: Canada uses the same white chocolate numbers as the US (at least 20% cocoa butter, 14% milk solids, 3.5% milk fat). Australia also requires 20% cocoa butter and 14% milk solids, but sets no separate milk fat minimum. (PS: I work in cacao sourcing. We have a comparison that includes US, EU, Canada and Australia, if useful: )
