The professionals who survive AI will do so because they are clever at positioning themselves. Older grinders, the ones who still grapple with email, in my field are getting wiped out. Those able to incorporate new technology and fill the myriad gaps it leaves are thriving. I'm a weirdo pirate in my field, have heavily integrated AI to increase my efficiency massively without sacrificing my human contact and judgment, which is what clients actually pay me for.

Too many bookkeepers and too competitive. Anyone can become a bookkeeper, with or without an accounting background. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but the likelihood of keeping clients to provide stable income is not high. The use of AI to provide bookkeeping services is also on the rise. If OP’s dream was to build a tax practice combined with bookkeeping services, I would have different thoughts.
