I talk them off app all the time. AirBnb being the middle man adds nothing to our transaction. When hitting a new town, I line up a few i like and actually try and get a tour prior to booking. It is easy to take it off app and it works great for long stays 2/3 months.

No. My landlord is very nice and relaxed about it. He just asks me how many months and when I’m leaving and returning bc I leave Albania after my year for 90 days somewhere else and come back. Our only sort of contract is what we establish in WhatsApp. Some might not be comfortable with that, but my situation is trustworthy. I got very lucky. I don’t have to lock into to any set amount with him. If you stay at someone’s Airbnb you can tell them you are also interested in longer stays. They will work with you. I also did this in Montenegro and it worked just fine also. I went from two weeks to three months in that Airbnb. Same in Genoa when I was in Italy.

Okay this is really good to know! I'm on my 2nd Airbnb in Chile, and neither has been great, so I'm definitely doing hotels then for Argentina.

For my latest trip to Italy I've avoided airbnb and just gone for traditional bnbs & hotels - I much prefer the traditional vibe and they tend to be more honest and less schemeing or something

I hear you! Just deleted my Airbnb account after the latest horrible experience. Booked a "guests favorite" place to find a half basement with mold and water swelling on the walls, also dirty. Been through all the stress of finding a place for the night and took time to properly report. Mind you, someone could get killed if this water reaches electricity sockets! The result - the listing is still there and I am a "not recommended guest". Well, if you think that guests have no option of posting photos, the Airbnb policy is quite clear. They don't give a heck about guests.
