   Look up the etymology of Gabacho. Used to have a stronger French connotation. The Froggies have some History in Mexico. The real bridge between French and Spanish is Catalan.

   English: a weird mix of Texas, Chicago, hood-ish, and whatever makes me soften my consonants. French: An ex’s boyfriend said I speak like I’m from the hood. 🤷‍♂️ German: Pretty lazy tongue but good pronunciation. When I first started, people told me I spoke with a French accent. Eventually got rid of that. Spanish: Andalusian af mixed with some poor pronunciation here and there due to me working in English all day.

   My French is very Montreal sounding. It's atrophied from lack of recent use, but I used to have a Midi twang from living in Montpellier. Portuguese is also very Carioca, as that's where I spent four months of immersion way back. Have lived in Portugal since learning the language, but actively resisted picking up that accent, since Carioca sounds soooooo much sexier than Iberian Portuguese. The little dialectal Arabic I'm able to produce is hard Moroccan Darija, which means completely useless outside the Maghreb. Long ago I learned that Arabic speakers tend to dislike conversing in MSA.

   English: Weird 😂 A mixture of native and London accent (not cockney). I've actually thought about taking enunciation classes but people tell me they'd take away my "peculiarity". Native: It doesn't sound like from where I am which is the most important thing because I hate (hate, hate, hate) the local accent. French: shit. German: unfortunately not GERMAN level. Spanish: as long as I don't sound European Spanish I'm OK with it 😂 Why does it take itself so seriously?! Portuguese: my best friend once told me to just stop trying to speak Portuguese 😂 Thai: I think OK for being a tonal language?
