Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Interesting -- I've been here for a year and half and in many ways it's MUCH more difficult- low English, no Uber so a reliance on motorcycle taxis which are incredibly unsafe. Rwandans are introverted and more closed off, you're not going to make random friends the way you can instantly in Nairobi/ Kampala /Bujumbura/Goma/ Dar. The nightlife is quiet, bars close at 2am, while the rest of East Africa you can rage until dawn 7 nights a week. But crime is non-existent and I can walk around at 2am no issues, no phone snatchers (I lost 4 iphones in Kampala). Nairobi requires more street smarts but Kigali requires more patience and Africa smarts.

agree w all points. the mall security is due to terrorism incidents in the past (Westgate etc). The rando British special forces guy who just happened to be walking by came out w his memoir. OP-- if you're going to hit Africa, Nairobi is the place to start. it's the easiest infrastrucure. Other cities don't have Uber.

Was very pleasantly surprised by Nairobi. Elevation makes it easy to forget you are in equatorial Africa, with nights getting cool even. It’s massively sprawling and largely unwalkable, so pick your area carefully. I stayed in Westlands, like a lot of foreign visitors. My last day, I spent a day walking around CBD (downtown) before taking the train to Mombasa.\* It feels like the supranational administrative capital of East Africa. The energy was good, and I liked the Kenyans quite a lot. Nairobi is quite cosmopolitan too. I made friends with quite a few Indians and Iranians living there, part of established communities. Had an unforgettable brunch on the terrace of Ole Sereni Hotel, overlooking Nairobi National Park. Food was forgettable and overpriced, but I ate my toast with giraffes not ten meters away from the patio. \*I liked Mombasa and DianI Beach even more than Nairobi.

I've spent a fair amount of time there. **The good:** \-People are genuinely friendly; I think Kenyans are some of the friendliest people in the whole world. \-Food is amazing (Both local Kenyan + Swahili dishes, as well as a huge range of international options). \-The city has a great energy, lots of startups and interesting events. \-Lots of amazing weekend trips to national parks and natural areas. \-Fairly easy to navigate the city if you speak English. **The bad:** \-Perhaps I was overly conservative, but I basically didn't walk around at all by myself, day or night, even in nicer areas, due to security/crime. Uber is very accessible and cheap, and I had a few friends get mugged even during the daytime. There's a lot of security (eg going into malls). At the end of my trip, I yearned to just be able to go for a walk whenever I wanted. There are some nice forests inside Nairobi that I would walk, but this was the exception. \-Traffic is horrible. It can take an hour or more to get from one neighborhood to the other, so choose your location wisely. \-Infrastructure issues: I was there for the rainy season, and there was crazy flash flooding that caused immense damage and even took lives.
