Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

João Pessoa's calm and safe but the nomad scene is thin, so Recife if you want people around, Pipa if you want small and coastal.

If you're looking for a nomad spot, I'd say Pipa is known as the best place in the NE. Recife isn't bad, it's become a lot safer in recent years, but it's just a big city, nothing special. Outside of that, just be really careful because it gets dangerous.

I started going there quite a bit four years or so ago and ended up buying a place in Pipa to use as a base. If you just want a chill place with great beaches then Pipa is a good option, if you want something more like a city then we’ve started spending a lot of time in Natal too.

JP: Price for value (semi-decent infrastructure (for Brazil) and nice beaches) has been on the radar of expats for a while, but my impression is that they are the older set. (And lots of Brazilian relocators). So house prices have been going up fast. But since you're probably not buying, maybe irrelevant. Just not sure if you'll find the scene you're looking for. If I could do it all over again (I mean, I've had lots of Bahia time, not Paraíba) I'd look at Recife and Olinda. The music culture there is something special, but it's a bigger, grittier, faster place... with the typical trappings of that (example: I haven't looked at the stats but crime almost certainly higher than JP). If I were you, and if you're properly nomadic, I would spend a couple weeks each in those places plus Pipa, Morro de São Paulo... and others that may be up and coming coz my experiences are old. You might find that the smaller scene is preferable. I think there was a post about Pipa recently on this group. But how's your Portuguese? If you're a beginner you might wanna start in a bigger city, even Rio.

Not sure how many DMs but there's a sizeable Argentine population living in Pipa
