Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

At what price point and in what country? Never had this issue

For those of you who opt for hotels instead, do you find them to be much more expensive than an Airbnb apartment with the monthly discount applied? If not, how do you find these hotels at comparable price points? I like hotel stays, but they are usually more expensive in my experience.

Read the reviews, not the stars. Beware the overly slick. Avoid the bottom price tier, don’t believe amenities that seem unlikely for the price point. Keep expectations reasonable, and be empowered enough to take care of things yourself. Speaking as someone who has hosted on Airbnb, I know why Airbnbs never have a decent kitchen knife. It’s because a previous guest stole it. An empowered traveler knows how to sharpen a dull kitchen knife to the point where he can use it to dice tomatoes and parsley for tabbouli. A dork will spend the evening and thousands of words mewling about dull knives on r/digitalnomad. You’re a grownup - you can figure out how to change a fucking lightbulb on your own.

China's urban centers have a great QoL at a much more accessible price point. That said, Seoul really is a gem.

“It’s not that I have something to hide. I have nothing I want you to see” - Anon I can relate to this. Some points for your travels, in case they help: \+ Most Muslim countries apply heavy surveillance but are almost always open to bribes making you immune from just about any judicial process if you need. Your foreign passport here becomes your double-edged sword. Also works for smuggling, people that seem to be helpers are actually part of the system that channels bribes up. This is how you can find alcohol/drugs in places with prohibition. \+ Airports/port of entries serve as their primary methods of control. And their land borders are rarely secured. Beyond this, they don’t have the resources to pursue an individual unless you really get someone high-ranking hot and bothered. \+ If you take a train/bus to a second city, go to an average (explanation below) hotel, slide the front desk some money - you will not have any record of stay and would’ve essentially “disappeared” from the government’s eyes. No one is mass analyzing all grainy CCTV footage across the country to find that one dude who could be anywhere- not yet. \+ Price points determine a lot in these places. Privacy is now a luxury that some people can afford. In these surveillance states - the most expensive hotels are not getting raided for “morality” but they also will not bend their own rules on record keeping without some vetted connections. Cheap hotels are easiest to bribe but have no immunity from law enforcement. Middle/average allows you to optimize for both when you don’t have a lay of the land. \+ eSIMs tell cell towers your IMSI, IMEI, MSISDN, location. Networking is an entirely another topic but would suggest looking to travel routers, VPN configs, device settings to maximize what is visible to ISPs. \+ Foreigners stand out by default; the sexpats of this sub wouldn’t even excite a puta of El Poblado if they didn’t look and sound foreign. Almost always, you will want to blend into crowds. Pretty easily achieved - just watch the locals, optimize for genetic differences. I have never been somewhere that doesn’t have tall/wide/albino-ish white etc. The biggest tell of foreigners is they always dress to stand out, look lost and walk around smiling in places that offer nothing but misery to nationals. \+ Local contacts will always be your best bet. Need a longterm lease in someone else’s name? There will be a million dudes willing to do it for a tea and some convos, but always pay for their troubles. Probably a million more things but unless taking a trip to assassinate someone, these alone should make you practically invisible.
