Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Been nomading for a while and this shit keeps getting worse. Some issuers will accept a letter from whoever owns the address saying you live there, but the utility bill thing is the real sticking point. Easiest workaround I've seen is using a family member's address and getting added to one of their utility accounts as an authorized user or just having them add your name to the bill, some companies let you do that online without much hassle.

Mailing Address vs. "Residential Address" for Credit Cards - Hello. I'm from the U.S., and I'm looking for some updated information about dealing with credit card companies' "residential address" requirements while living abroad. I recently got approved for a new card, but the company won't activate it because the U.S. address I use is a PMB (private mailbox). They seem adamant that they need a residential address that I can verify with something like a utility bill. My driver's license and passport both use my mailbox address. Obviously, while living abroad, I'm not going to maintain a U.S. apartment, utilities, or a landline just to have a residential address for credit cards. I also can't simply use my mother's address in another state, since I don't actually live there and wouldn't have a utility bill or other proof of residence at that address either. Has anyone living abroad dealt with this recently? What did you do? Which banks or card issuers were willing to work with you? It seems like companies have become stricter about residential address verification, so I'm particularly interested in experiences from the past year or two rather than what worked several years ago.

With a $10k/month housing budget, you're in a completely different category than 99% of people doing this. You don't need to stress about Airbnb markups—at $10k/mo, you can live in high-end luxury pretty much anywhere on earth (Tokyo, London, Paris, New York, Cape Town, Dubai, etc.). To answer your specific questions: **1. Why Zillow / Traditional Leases don't work for 2-4 months** Zillow is mostly US-centric, and traditional long-term leases globally almost always require a 12-month contract, local bank accounts, credit checks, and furnishing the place yourself. Local landlords generally won't deal with 2-4 month stays because the turnover hassle, deposit holds, and utility setups aren't worth it for them. **2. What you should actually use instead** * **Luxury Serviced Apartments / Corporate Housing**: Look at platforms like Blueground, Sonder, or local high-end corporate housing agencies in whichever city you pick. They specialize in 1–6 month fully furnished stays with utilities, high-speed internet, weekly cleaning, and concierge included. * **Airbnb / VRBO (Monthly Stays)**: Booking 30+ nights automatically triggers monthly discounts (often 20% to 40% off). Since you're staying 2-4 months, you can also message hosts directly before booking to negotiate a custom rate for a multi-month stay. At $10k/mo, you'll easily get penthouses or luxury villas. * **5-Star Hotel Long Stays**: Luxury hotel chains (Four Seasons, Rosewood, Marriott Executive Apartments) often offer unlisted monthly/extended-stay rates if you email their sales or reservations team directly. **3. Where to go** Honestly, anywhere you want. If you want top-tier urban lifestyle, try Tokyo (Roppongi/Minato), London (Kensington/Mayfair), or Paris (Le Marais). If you want coastal/sun, look at Cape Town (Camps Bay), Southern France, or luxury villas in Bali/Phuket. The 2-4 month cadence is actually the sweet spot—long enough to settle into a daily routine and feel like a local, but short enough to keep things fresh. Just keep an eye on tourist visa limits (usually 90 days for most passport holders).

I’m currently doing this in Costa Rica and did it before in Mexico. It’s cool I don’t have any bills besides my local sim data - $10/month. And I have a truck which I do pay gas for. In Mexico the lady paid for the gas. I find these opportunities on Facebook and HIGHLY recommend it. I only do long stays like 2-4+ months I make pretty good money but I’d rather spend it on adventures or investments than housing and utilities

Yeah when I visited it was overrun with tourists and very expensive, at least in the center, but I think it depends on season and how long you will stay. Anyway I'm setting up a place for a friend there in Chiado. Ill check and DM you. The basic issue with all this stuff is once you add the cleaning, the Airbnb fee, the taxes, the property manager fee, utilities that 90 might be down to 45 euros to the owner on a unit that someone paid 6-800k for. Which I think explains why it's all so messed up. The owners cop the blame, but really it's all the people that are not the guest and not the owner looking for a rake.
