   ok thanks. for some reason sometimes certain wifi I don't get that little VZW icon, so I'm connected to wifi, but it doesn't enable wifi calling, even though it's enabled. have you seen that before?

   Yes, that works. To your phone a hotspot is just Wi-Fi, so Verizon Wi-Fi Calling doesn't know or care that the connection comes from a local eSIM on another phone. Airplane mode with Wi-Fi turned back on is actually the safe way to do it: the Verizon line never touches a foreign network, so no roaming or TravelPass charges get triggered, and calls and voicemail keep working as long as the hotspot is up. Only catch is battery on the second phone, so keep it plugged in if you rely on it for incoming calls.

   ok, for some reason I remember that sometimes when connected to wifi I don't get that little VZW wifi calling icon in the top left. I just lock my VZ sim before landing in a new country. I've tried turning off all the dating and it still finds a way to leak through somehow. problem is when you lock the sim it just makes it seem like your line doesn't exist if someone calls you. Trying to find a work around to using your primary number for calls without paying $12/day

   it’ll work fine, the phone doesn’t care where the wifi signal comes from. wifi is wifi, whether it’s from a router or another phone’s hotspot also yeah just turn off data roaming on the verizon line instead of disabling the whole sim. you’ll still get calls and texts that way without racking up charges

   It will work while you are connected to “any” WiFi. disabling your Vz line you can turn off ‘data roaming’ on that line, it you won’t get any charges on data. That’s what I do when I travel with vz.
