Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. My girl spent 30 seconds max in bed. It was our inside joke. I miss her so much 😢

Puppy won't stop eating EVERYTHING - I know this is somewhat normal puppy behavior, but does anyone have any advice on how to teach them not to eat (like actually trying to swallow) literally everything they find on the ground that will fit in their mouth? I'm willing to put in the work if there's a strategy that works. I really don't want this to become a life-long issue. BACKGROUND: She's an 11 week-old rescue and seems to have not really been supervised very in her foster home (no shade, they saved her and kept her alive and we're grateful). She's been living with us for about 2 weeks now and eats EVERYTHING she finds on the ground - pine cones, mulch, splintered wood, lichen, moss, pebbles, tree bark, sticks, acorns, trash, small kids toys, etc. If it was just the dead bugs and lizards and cat poop, I could accept that it's disgusting but pretty normal dog behavior, but I'm obviously most worried about the inedible/choking hazard items, which I am pulling out of her mouth literally every 30 seconds or even more when I take her outside. It would also be great to train her not to immediately eat any human food that gets dropped on the floor, since I know some of that is also not safe and this sweet, dumb baby has literally ZERO survival instincts. I try my best to remove temptation (making kids pick up their toys and such), but that's obviously not a realistic long term solution, and making it even harder right now is that I injured myself the other day and am currently on crutches, so I can't move as fast as her, and every time she gets something in her mouth, I have to drop my crutches, fall to the ground and wrestle it out of her mouth. Often by the time I get back up she has found something else. 😭 Help! How do I train this out of her?? I know training her to do/not do anything will take a while, but I don't want her to grow up to be the kind of dog who needs repeated surgeries to remove non-food objects from her stomach or can't be left alone even 30 seconds without harming herself. I've tried redirecting with play time and chew toys but NOTHING is as interesting to her as the stuff she finds for herself. I keep her on a fairly short leash almost all the time (unless someone capable of keeping up with her is actively playing with her). She STILL manages to find stuff, constantly. Hellllllp.

classic velcro spaniel behavior, they were literally bred to be within 3 feet of a human at all times. my parents had cockers and they'd follow you to the bathroom then wait outside the door like tiny fluffy stalkers the hyperventilating is rough though, that's more separation anxiety territory than just being clingy. two days in he's still figuring out if you're coming back or not, street dogs learn real quick that humans disappear sometimes. might settle when he realizes you're not gonna vanish on him try leaving for like 30 seconds then coming back, then a minute, then two. boring exits too, no big goodbyes. make your absence the most uninteresting thing ever

I’d actually start much smaller than 30 seconds. If he’s barking at that point, he’s already over his comfort threshold. Try tiny separations — even just stepping into another room for a few seconds and returning while he’s still calm. Gradually build the time from there. You can also practise picking up keys, putting shoes on and walking to the door without actually leaving, so those cues stop meaning “you’re going away.” Given how distressed he was in the crate, I’d avoid using it for alone-time until he’s comfortable with it again. Also, he’s only been with you a month — he may just need time to feel secure.

New dog with separation anxiety - Hi there, I recently adopted a two year old Pomsky, we have had him for a month and in general, he is a very well behaved dog and we have little to complain about. The only issue we have is separation anxiety. His previous owners says he happily stayed home without him for hours at a time but we havent been able to do that yet. He is crate trained and he happily goes in his bed at night. The first time we tried leaving him, we put him in his crate and got a camera and he was making awful sounds and was attacking the crate itself. We didn’t do that again because we didn’t want bad association with the crate itself. The second time, we tried just in our bedroom and again he wouldn’t settle and made awful sounds. We are currently researching and have seen the information of not making a fuss when we leave or come back etc. We wait till he is settled, get up without looking at him and calmly go out the front door, Even 30 seconds worth of time with us leaving stresses him out and he barks. (He usually doesn’t bark, and is generally quiet this is the only time he makes noise) We want him to be able to be calm when we leave, and we understand he is still settling into living with us and building trust, but we want to make sure he is confident with us leaving. Are there any other advice on what we could also do? Thanks in Advance!
