Each point is a seven-day rolling window of complete UTC days; a point is comparable only when at least 100 analyzed posts or comments fall inside it. A day with no analyzed records counts as zero; missing coverage is marked and never shown as zero. The series ends at the latest complete analyzed day — it never extends into the current incomplete day. How attention is measured.

Dogs have pretty poor eyesight. If I had to guess based on your description, he had no idea what you were until you stood up. And all that surprise overwhelmed his little doggy brain. Some dogs do bark when they're excited or surprised, but the play bow is pretty much universal dog body language for "I want to play". That said, an overstimulated dog can play rough, even if they're normally even-tempered. You did the right thing by standing still and remaining calm. If you need to look somewhere, look at the owner. This should hopefully instruct the dog (once they're done reacting) to take their cue from them, but YMMV depending on the owner.

lol nah bro. Like 8 years ago I had someone (I know and was having mental health issues due to addiction) break into my house. My pup fully greeted them with his tale wagging. My daughter’s dog barked and scared the person out of my house. Years later that person apologized for the incident and told me about my sweet dog greeting them so warmly and my other dogs bark made them kind of snap out it and they left before doing anything.

If you have close access to a fenced in area for a dog to zoom around I think a sighthound would do pretty well. They're very cat-like, don't often bark much and love lounging on the couch for hours on end, but they do need to run! Many sighthounds are among the oldest breeds of dogs in the wprld, and like many hounds they have an independant streak, but that's a great trait for those of us who need to leave home for work. The bigger breeds are less fragile, but do require higher fencing around off-leash parks as they can jump pretty high. I have a Whippet sub-breed (Windsprite) but I've only ever heard great things about Greyhounds.

Another benefit of electric vehicles - anyone else find that their dog doesn’t bark at the new EV versions of the USPS mail trucks? She used to lose her mind when the old ones drove by, and she still barks like a maniac when she sees or hears the UPS truck. Maybe the sound of the brakes is part of what she hates about them? or maybe I just have a very environmentally-minded dog.

Snakes don’t bark and cause neighbors to complain. Just sayin.
