   Your place is also yr dogs 🐕 home. Dogs should be allowed to rest & relax wherever they want. We have two dogs & at night they sleep on the bed w us. We have an American bulldog & she’s big & hogs the bed & a Pomeranian/Pug. There is a ramp at the end of the bed so they can go up & down freely. Sometimes during the night Khloe that’s our big dog will go sleep on the couch which is basically hers cause we tend to use the big couch anyway. But a man coming into yr home & dictating that it’s disgusting where the dogs sleep is bs. That’s yr home & yr say & it’s not disgusting. If he doesn’t have respect for your dogs I can only imagine how he would treat them if he was left alone w them. That’s definitely a red flag for me.

   I have a big breed and a little breed (chi/min pin/etc). I love having a small dog and a big dog. It can be hard when their needs are so different but it’s something I’m used to by now. But as some people have mentioned, typically the cost of a small dog is significantly lower. I love my little dog so much, she’s really the best 💛

   My dog pees 4 times a day, can easily hold it overnight for 12+ hours (no, I'm not stopping him from going out, he's just too comfy to get out of bed in the morning), and has never had an accident when left alone but I don't leave him for longer than 5 hours. He costs 1/4 of what my large dog did at the vet (procedures, preventative medications, etc) He costs less at the groomer (small dog = smaller charge, at most groomers) He costs less in toys, he destroys his toys MUCH slower than a large dog and because they toys are small they are cheaper to purchase and easier to find. Beds are also much cheaper. He fits in the requirements for flying in cabin on an airplane so I can travel with him whenever I like He can be easily picked up in dangerous situations He is allowed in dog friendly businesses more readily than larger dogs He's easy to sleep with because he doesn't take up much space He's just as willing and able to train and learn tricks as all of my larger dogs have been, he can hike and run and do all of the things big dogs can. as for negatives? Teeth. They need their teeth brushed frequently, and even then you can expect dental issues pretty quickly. My dog got serious tartar build up on his larger back teeth before he even finished teething as a pup! They can be more fragile so if you have rambunctious kids you'll have to consider whether they can be trusted around the dog. Also, it can be hard to find harnesses that fit, he's only 7.4lbs and most "xs" harnesses are still too big for him. You likely won't have this issue with a 14lb dog.

   I have a Pomeranian he is 12, I also have a Chihuahua who is seven. Great little dogs both of them neither one is yappy. They're both as friendly as can be. I had two 12-year-old poms up until a few months ago. Both are just so sweet. I have not had a leash on either one of my poms since they were a year old. They follow me everywhere. I take both with me to stores and in the car. I also have two big dogs I cannot do that with them. The Chihuahua and the Pomeranian love to lay on my lap. I've had a lot of big dogs and little dogs in my life. I have not had an issue with the little ones ever. My pom is 6 lbs, the Chihuahua is 5, my pom I lost a few months ago was only four pounds she was adorable.

   Having had big dogs and now l have two tiny dogs, l found that big dogs looked after me, l felt safe out alone with them. But with tiny dogs it's the other way around, you worry about them more because they are so little, and more vulnerable. Personally l have found little dogs easier in general, than big dogs.
